Binaural Audio Recording is a method of recording sound that uses two microphones, arranged with the intent to create a 3-D stereo sound sensation. This effect is often created using a technique known as dummy head recording, wherein a mannequin head is fitted with a microphone in each ear.

Why is it better than a traditional mic array?

It has 2 microphones mounted in a dummy head, inset in ear-shaped molds to fully capture all the frequency adjustments that happen naturally as sound wraps around the human head and is "shaped" by the form of the outer and inner ear. These are known as head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) in the psychoacoustic community.

Interference is the sum of wave functions.

When there’s interference, two waves can add together to create a wave of greater amplitude (constructive interference) or subtract from each other to create a wave of lesser amplitude (destructive interference).

The amount of coherence can be measured by interference, which looks at the size of the interference fringes relative to the input waves (as the phase offset is varied)

What does this all mean?

Interference measurement tells me if a certain frequency has both Amplitude and Phase coherence between L and R Channels. Think of it as an elaborate way to see if 2 speakers are in Phase at a certain frequency.

Composed of two woofers, three mid-ranges and a pair of tweeters (front connection including central connection), it is the only kit from the Focal Inside equipped with our ‘W’ composite sandwich cone and Beryllium inverted dome tweeters.

Orca Master Tech Training for June 2023

I am happy to announce our first Orca Master Tech training/ BARNIE certification program for Orca Retailers.

This training is put together to help and improve our retailers to overcome day-to-day challenges in real-world applications and to be more profitable and efficient. One of the days will be dedicated for the OEM Integration/DSP training, it will include in-depth training on B.A.R.N.I.E. and a certification that shows BARNIE certified! The training dates are scheduled for June 1-4, 2023 . Orca Design & Mfg. will cover the cost of the admission fee and the hotel for qualifying participants. The minimum qualifying order is $10,000.00 net and is not valid with any other offers or promotions. This is open to all Orca retailers that are currently in good standing with us. Participating retailers can break up the qualifying order into two PO’s, if needed, but both PO’s must be placed at the same time of the commitment. The second PO must have a release date no later than the MAY 31, 2023. Please note that any orders placed before April 1, 2023, will not be counted towards this training. There are only 25 seats available, first come first served. Be sure to get in touch with your Orca representative in your area as soon as possible.
