WSF Announcement: Plan Ahead for Thanksgiving Weekend   
Please, plan ahead for heavy ferry traffic Thanksgiving weekend. The longest lines are expected westbound Wednesday afternoon and evening, November 23, and both westbound and eastbound Friday morning, November 25. The route will operate on its regular schedule on Thursday, November 24. For schedule details and wait times, please check the WSF website. Reservations are strongly advised and can be made up to two hours prior to sailing online at www.takeaferry.com, or by calling 511.

Thanksgiving weekend, Friday, November 25, 12:00 noon - 4:00 pm
 

Take a delightful walk about the charming town of Eastsound, taking in the amazing art and crafts of local artisans, photographers and craftspeople. Shop the local boutiques for unique holiday gift items.

The festivities will begin on Friday, November 25, 12:00 noon - 4:00 pm. (Hours may vary.)

Look for this years *PoPuP artists locations, live music, and outdoor festivities.

OPEN MIC NIGHT @ THE DOE BAY CAFE
(Thursday Evenings - Sponsoring The Orcas Choral Society in November)
NOTE: This week is Thanksgiving, which means NO Open Mic.
Join island visitors and residents to share music, spoken word, and other performances on the night when we come together in that ancient ritual of community and communion. The Café is open from 5:00 - 10:00 pm and Open Mic begins at 7:30 pm. Come out and support The Orcas Choral Society! Each Thursday in November, Doe Bay Open Mic Night gives a percentage of the sale from each entree sold to The Orcas Choral Society. Great food, music and a fantastic cause!

ODD FELLOWS TRADITIONAL COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DINNER 
(Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 4:30 pm @ the Odd Fellows Hall)
Once again the Odd Fellows will be holding their traditional Community Thanksgiving
Dinner, Thanksgiving Day, November 24, at 4:30 pm at the Odd Fellows Hall.
Due to record-breaking attendance, we are again partnering with the Episcopal
Church to ensure no one is turned away. There will be a Thanksgiving Dinner at the
Church beginning at 5:00 pm.  If we again exceed our capacity, anyone who cannot join
the Odd Fellows are encouraged to attend dinner at the Episcopal Church where they
are more than welcome.
The Odd Fellows will furnish turkey, bread and butter. For those attending, please,
bring the following suggested potluck contributions based on the beginning letter of
your last name:

ROSARIO MUSIC CONCERT AND HISTORICAL NARRATIVE
(SATURDAYS ONLY at 4:00 pm)   
Enjoy a presentation of music and photography that walks guests through the history of the Moran family and the Rosario estate with Christopher Peacock. Highlights of the presentation include the historic Moran Photograph Collection, Phantom of the Opera music performed on the Mansion's 1,972 pipe Aeolian organ with the silent film, stories of the Mansion's most colorful residents, and Christopher's original piano compositions played on the 1900 Steinway Grand Piano. Complimentary and open to the public.

COMMUNITY DODGEBALL 
(Friday, November 25, 7:00 - 9:30ish @ the High School Gym)
Thursday is for Gratitude, Friends, and Family. Friday is for DODGEBALL. The Orcas Island Education Foundation and Orcas Park and Rec District invite the whole community to an evening of Dodgeball at the High School Gym on Friday, November 25, from 7:00 - 9:30ish pm.  Holiday Attire Encouraged - there will be a PRIZE for the most festive outfit. An amazing Bake Sale will be happening in the concession stand. $5 suggested donation, all proceeds go to OIEF. Bring the Relatives! Bonus points if you bring a college student/islander home for the holiday!

THE OLGA SYMPHONY, MORE OR LESS 
(Friday, November 25 & Saturday, November 26, 7:30 pm @ Orcas Center)
A cherished Thanksgiving weekend tradition continues this year, as the Olga Symphony returns to the Orcas Center stage on Friday and Saturday, November 25 and 26. As always, Symphony members Gordon, Melinda, JP, and Anita will bring wonderfully non-symphonic songs and tunes, old favorites and new treasures. Tickets are available at www.orcascenter.org or 360-376-2281 x1 and are still just $5, so bring your family, friends, and neighbors. The Symphony will be continuing another tradition as well - all proceeds will benefit Orcas Center and other island charities.


HOLIDAY FESTIVAL OF ARTS 
(Saturday, November 26, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm @ the Orcas Island Senior Center)
The Operations Committee of the Orcas Island Senior Center invites you to participate in our annual Holiday Festival of Arts, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 26. This is one of our major fund-raisers of the year. The festival provides substantial funds to keep our doors open for Senior Meals, classes, assistance, and numerous workshops and classes.
The Holiday Festival will include a silent auction, live music, and an exciting raffle. This year's event will feature local food by Chimayo and a Harmony Chai bar to accompany our annual bake sale. Shoppers will find handmade candles, ceramics and pottery, hand-printed cards and photographs, handmade jewelry, upcycled accessories, and cashmere clothes for adults and children. Bring your family to sample the local fair and join in the Spirit of Christmas.


YOUTH ORCHESTRA @ ORCAS CENTER

Musicians from Orcas Island High School have won top ratings at regional music contests in Northwest Washington.  Come see what all the acclaim is about! Band, Orchestra, and Choir will all perform. Admission by donation.

HOLIDAY FESTIVITIES AT THE PIONEER MUSEUM

Join in the holiday festivities at the Pioneer Museum! We are joining in the Chamber of Commerce Eastsound Holiday Celebration & Tree Lighting. The Boede Cabin will be decorated in vintage Christmas decorations. There will be crafts for children, making paper chains and writing letters to Santa.  Tours are available and the gift shop will be open.
This is a free community event. It is a great time to visit your local museum and experience Christmas from the past. Come kick-off your holiday season at the Pioneer Museum!

THE REVELERS @ ORCAS CENTER

The Revelers have taken their music coast to coast in the U.S. and around the world from Ireland to Denmark, and back to their own Black Pot Festival in Lafayette, Louisiana. Now Orcas Center is amped to bring The Revelers to our island for the first time to share their musical culture with us. As individuals, each of The Revelers are in high demand having performed and recorded with T-Bone Burnett, Natalie Merchant, and Linda Ronstadt, to name a few.

LEAVES OF GOLD CONCERT AND RECEPTION: A BACH CELEBRATION 
(Thursday, December 8, 6:00 pm @ the Rosario Mansion)
Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival is very pleased to present its annual Leaves of Gold concert on Thursday, December 8, at 6:00 pm. A Bach Celebration! will feature the music of J.S. Bach, the composer Beethoven called the "Immortal God of Harmony."
     The historic pipe organ in the Music Room at the Rosario mansion will be tuned up and ready to add a big, dramatic thrill to this year's Leaves of Gold concert. The sweet sounds of two violins and the Music Room's 1900 Steinway grand piano will also be part of this lovely evening of J.S. Bach and other composers.
     A reception will follow in the Mansion Dining Room. Enjoy a wonderful buffet with hors d'oeuvres, desserts, and wine, prepared by Rosario's executive chef Raymond Southern and his staff.

WAR HORSE @ ORCAS CENTER 
(Thursday, December 8, 7:30 pm Streaming Encore Center Stage)
The National Theatre's multi-award-winning production of War Horse, seen by over 4 million people worldwide since its premiere at the National Theatre in 2007, will be broadcast to Orcas Center from its home at the New London Theatre in the West End as part of the National Theatre Live Encore series. Based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo,  A remarkable tale of courage, loyalty and friendship, War Horse features ground-breaking puppetry work by South Africa's Handspring Puppet Company, which brings breathing and galloping horses to life on stage.

INTERNATIONAL LIONS ANNUAL CHRISTMAS SHIP ARRIVING ORCAS FERRY LANDING 
(Sunday, December 11, 11:30 am @ the Orcas Ferry Landing)
The Orcas Island Lions club announces the arrival of the International Lions Annual Christmas Ship on December 11, at 11:30am at the Orcas Ferry Landing. The ship will only stay for about 45 minutes, so arrive on time so you don't miss the fun.      Refreshments will once again be provided by the Orcas Village Store. Parking, always a problem at the landing, will be available in the upper ferry lot, at the Post Office and along the road, but as always arrive early to get a spot.
   The Orcas Lions Club would like to thank the community for its support during the year, which allows us to bring the ship to island as well as assisting in other community activities. We especially want to thank the Russells for their support in providing refreshment for all those that come to meet the ship.
   The Lion's Club meets on the second and fourth Wednesday at 12:00 pm at the Senior Center, and we invite you to attend to see what the Lions are all about.

ART FROM AROUND THE WORLD
(The month of November at the Lobby Gallery at Orcas Center)
Art from Around the World is a very unique show collated by the Visual Arts Committee which features works of art assembled from around the world by local resident collectors. The extraordinary display  will feature original pieces of indigenous art crafted by native artisans and will include a rich variety of objects from sculptures and paintings, carvings and masks, to jewelry and fabrics. This unusual show promises to reflect the wide- ranging interests of our Orcas community, many of whom have traveled extensively across the globe and will be sharing some of their favorite works of art. In addition to the "World of Art" collection in the lobby, there will be an "On and Off the Wall" show in the Madrona Room of local artists displaying their current work.
