Welcome and Announcements

Prelude: "O Sons and Daughters, Let Us Sing!", J. F. Dandrieu

Call to Worship:
The Lord is risen! Alleluia!
               The Lord is risen indeed! Alleluia!
This is the good news by which we are saved:
               On the third day God raised Jesus from the dead.
This is the day that the Lord has made,
               We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Hymn 232: "Jesus Christ is Risen Today" (11 AM - led by Owen Sower)
Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia! our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
who did once upon the cross, Alleluia! suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia! unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia!
who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia! sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!

Sing we to our God above, Alleluia! praise eternal as God's love. Alleluia!
Praise our God, ye heavenly host, Alleluia! Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia!

Prayer of the Day:
Glory to you, O God:
on this day you won victory over death,
raising Jesus from the grave
and giving us eternal life.

Glory to you, O Christ:
for us and for our salvation you overcame death
and opened the gate to everlasting life.

Glory to you, O Holy Spirit:
you lead us into the truth.

Glory to you, O Blessed Trinity,
now and forever. Amen.

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession:
God of all hope and joy, we confess
that we continue to live in fear.
You raised Jesus to new life,
yet we hold on to former things.
You offer salvation to all,
yet we fail to share this good news.
Forgive us, God of grace.
By your Spirit, make us witnesses
to the wonder of the empty tomb
and the fullness of life you promise;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Assurance of Forgiveness

Hymn of Praise: "Thine is the Glory"

Time with the Young Church: Children's Bulletin

Prayer for Illumination:
Risen Christ,
help us so to hear your holy Word
that we may truly understand;
that, understanding, we may believe,
and, believing,
may follow in all faithfulness and obedience,
seeking your honor and glory in all that we do;
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Scripture Reading: Mark 16:1-8
Sermon: The Beginning, Chris Joiner

Affirmation of Faith: “Apostle’s Creed”
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins;
he resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayers of the People:
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.
Amen.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

Alleluia, Alleluia! Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son, and praise the Spirit, Three in One! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Amen.

Prayer of Dedication

Closing Hymn 238: "Thine is the Glory" (11 AM - led by Owen Sower)
Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son;
endless is the victory thou o'er death hast won.
Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,
kept the folded grave-clothes where thy body lay.

Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son;
endless is the victory thou o'er death hast won.

No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life!
Life is naught without thee; aid us in our strife.
Make us more than conquerors through thy deathless love;
bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above.

Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son;
endless is the victory thou o'er death hast won.
