Welcome and Announcements
Prelude (8:30 AM): "Renew Me, O Eternal Light", Paul Manz
Carillon (11 AM)
Call to Worship:
On the mountain, in the valley, and everywhere in between
Christ’s presence is dazzling all around calling us to listen.
Open our eyes and hearts O God, so we can be transformed
and follow Christ down the mountain and beyond.
Let us worship God together.
Opening Hymn 12: "Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise" (VERSES 1, 2, & 4)
Prayer of the Day:
Holy God,
on mountaintops and valley floors
you reveal to us the light of your love.
Our hearts' desire is to bask in the amazing glory
of your divine presence.
With each encounter, we are changed and transformed.
Help us to live our lives as a reflection of your divine glory.
Boldly guide us to bear your light into dark places
offering hope to displace despair
and love that casts out hate.
Lead us into our hurting world as we follow and praise you,
blessed and holy Trinity;
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Call to Confession
Prayer of Confession:
God of compassion,
in Jesus Christ you reveal the light of your glory,
but we turn away, distracted by our own plans.
We confess that we speak when we should listen,
and act when we should wait.
Forgive our aimless enthusiasm.
Grant us wisdom to live in your light
and to follow in the way of your beloved Son,
Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Assurance of Forgiveness
Hymn of Praise (8:30 AM): "Glory Be to the Father"
Carillon (11 AM): "Praise to the Lord"
Prayer for Illumination:
God of light, love, and glory,
reveal your presence to us this day.
As you did to your servants on that mountain,
send your Spirit to show us your story.
May the brilliance of your face illuminate our hearts
and inspire us to proclaim your Word,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Affirmation of Faith:
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Prayers of the People:
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.
Amen.
