Prelude: Prelude on “Canonbury”, T. Pearce
Call to Worship:
We come from scattered lives to this time,
to seek our unity in the Spirit,
to seek the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ,
to seek the peace of God.
We come in response to the call of grace,
to fearlessly share ourselves,
all that we have and all that we are,
as an offering to God.
Prayer of the Day:
Almighty God,
so draw our hearts to you,
so guide our minds,
so fill our imaginations,
that we may be wholly yours,
utterly dedicated to you.
Use us as you will,
always to your glory and the welfare of your people;
through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Hymn 612: We Praise You, O God! (Verses 1 and 3)
Call to Confession
Prayer of Confession:
God of mercy, God of love,
in humbleness of heart we confess our sins.
We forget to love and serve you,
allowing the call to be stewards of your gifts
to be lost amid fear, doubt, and cynicism.
Forgive us, O God, and restore in us a passion
to offer ourselves in thanksgiving,
to offer ourselves with generosity,
to offer ourselves with confidence and trust
that you will take what we offer
and transform the world.
Assurance of Forgiveness
Hymn of Praise: Glory be to the Father
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen. Amen.
Questions to ask:
I wonder... What part of the Bible story is most important for me today?
I wonder... When did I experience something beautiful or good this past week?
I wonder... Who and what am I thankful for today?
Prayer for Illumination:
God of all,
among all your gifts to us,
we thank you most for the gift of your Word made flesh.
By the power of your Spirit,
reveal that Word to us
as the Scriptures are read and proclaimed this day.
Amen.
Affirmation of Faith:
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Prayers of the People:
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.
Amen.

Today is Commitment Sunday: If the pandemic has not affected your financial situation, please remember to make an estimate of giving for 2021. If you are unable to do so, please continue to pray for the mission of the church and consider other ways you can be involved in God’s work in the world. Together, we will move into the future God has prepared.
