Pouring the Water

Welcome and Announcements

Prelude: An American Folk Hymn, Richard Widmar

Call to Worship:
Christ’s life in our hands,
              our lives shaped by his.
Christ’s love in our hearts,
              our love warmed through his.
Christ’s peace on our path,
              our path following his.

Prayer of the Day:
Ever-living God,
you pour out your gifts each day,
giving us the oil of gladness.
Make us stewards of your grace,
shape our lives as reflections of Christ,
and empower us for service in the world.
We worship and trust in Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Hymn 744: Arise, Your Light Is Come! (All Verses)

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession:
We confess we do not always
put our lives in your hands.
We are often found unprepared for the ways you come to us.
We would rather be safe than faithful.

But even when we are unfaithful, you remain true.
Take us, gracious Lord, and renew and remake us.
What we have been is past;
what we shall be, through you,
still awaits us.
Make us a generous people, in response to your abundant grace.
Fill our lamps with the oil of righteousness,
and send us out into the world forgiven and at peace.

Assurance of Forgiveness

Hymn of Praise: Glory be to the Father
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen. Amen.

Time with the Young Church: Children's Bulletin
Questions to ask:
I wonder... What part of the Bible story is most important for me today?
I wonder... When did I experience something beautiful or good this past week?
I wonder... Who and what am I thankful for today?

Prayer for Illumination:
Through your Word read and proclaimed
fill our lamps, O God,
that we might be awake and alert
to your coming.
In the name of Christ. Amen.

Gospel Reading: Matthew 25:1-13
Sermon: Enough - Chris Joiner

Affirmation of Faith:
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayers of the People:
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.
Amen.
