Welcome and Announcements
Prelude: (11 AM) Tarleton’s Resurrection (John Johns, guitar) John Dowland
Call to Worship:
We are made in the image of God.
We belong to God.
In this time of worship, let us render to God what belongs to God.
We will worship God with heart and mind,
and offer our sacrifice of praise.
Prayer of the Day:
you have made us in your image
and we belong to you alone.
Therefore we offer ourselves to you,
in service, love, and praise.
Use us for the glory of your kingdom
and the good of your people;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Hymn 667: When Morning Gilds the Skies (Verses 1 and 4)
Call to Confession
Prayer of Confession:
Sovereign God, we confess
that we are not ready for your holy realm.
We worship wealth and power,
forgetting that all things belong to you.
We seek places of honor and glory,
forgetting that glory is yours alone.
Forgive us, merciful God,
so that we may return to your fold
and rejoice in your presence;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Assurance of Forgiveness
Hymn of Praise: Glory be to the Father
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.
Prayer for Illumination:
Lord, open our hearts and minds
by the power of your Holy Spirit,
that as the scriptures are read
and your Word is proclaimed,
we may hear with joy what you say to us today. Amen.
Affirmation of Faith:
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Prayers of the People:
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.
