Prelude: Come Down, O Love Divine , R. Schultz
Call to Worship:
We come before God to worship, confident of God’s grace.
This is God’s doing, calling us to faith.
We come to worship as a response to God’s grace.
By grace, we are able to live a life worthy of the gospel.
Praise the Lord!
The Lord’s name be praised.
Hymn 41: O Worship the King (Verses 1 and 5)
Prayer of the Day:
God of abundant life,
source and goal of all things,
grant us in this time of worship
renewed hearts and minds,
that we might believe in Christ
and walk in his way,
to your glory alone.
We ask this in the name of Christ,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.
Call to Confession
Prayer of Confession:
Merciful God,
we confess that we have not always
lived lives worthy of the gospel.
We have been divided,
far from your call
to strive side by side, having the same mind.
We have allowed the fractures of the world
to cleave the Body of Christ.
Forgive us, we pray.
Move among us and turn our hearts to you,
that we might show forth
unity of purpose, for the sake of the world;
through Jesus Christ our Savior.
Assurance of Forgiveness
Hymn of Praise: Glory be to the Father
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.
Prayer for Illumination:
O God,
by your Spirit tell us what we need to hear,
and show us what we ought to do,
to obey Jesus Christ our Savior.
Amen.
Affirmation of Faith
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
Prayers of the People
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.
