Welcome and Announcements

Prelude: “Old Hundredth Hymn Tune with Variations” J. C. Bach

Call to Worship:
What does the Lord require of us?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with God.
Let us set our minds and hearts to be like Christ.
Let us worship God together.

Hymn 263: All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name! (Verses 1, 2, and 3)

Prayer of the Day:
Grant us, Lord,
to encourage one another.
Give us the same attitude as Jesus,
who taught us to love our neighbor,
humbly living and dying
so that all might have life in him.
Make us eager to put others before ourselves,
and to worship you with our whole beings.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession:
Merciful God,
in your gracious presence
we confess our sin and the sin of this world.
Although Christ is among us as our peace,
we are a people divided against ourselves
as we cling to the values of a broken world.
We are selfish when we should care for one another;
jealous when we should lift one another up;
prideful when you call us
to mirror your humble and generous spirit.
We are fearful to make ourselves vulnerable
and open to your work in our lives.
Lord, have mercy upon us;
heal and forgive us.
Set us free to serve you in the world
as agents of your reconciling love in Jesus Christ.

Assurance of Forgiveness

Hymn of Praise: Glory be to the Father
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

Time with the Young Church: Children's Bulletin

Prayer for Illumination:
Gracious God,
you promised never to break your covenant with us.
Amid all the changing words of our generation,
speak your eternal word that does not change.
Then may we respond to your gracious promises
with faithful and obedient lives. Amen.

Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:1-13

Sermon: Christlike Living - Mary Sellers Shaw

Affirmation of Faith
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayers of the People
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
