The Lord's Supper

(Served every Sunday)

Holy Communion is celebrated in, with and under the bread and wine Jesus gives us his body and blood for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with Him and one another.

Our Lord invites to His table those who repent of all sins, trust in Christ the Savior, believe in the real presence of His body and blood in, with and under the bread and wine, and forgives others as He loves and forgives us.

Those who do not know or accept the teachings of the Lutheran Church are invited to speak with the Pastor about joining the next adult instruction class so that they may become one with us in doctrine and receive the Sacrament for their blessing.

Pastor Leon Roberts

Thank you for being with us in Christian fellowship!

PRAYER REQUESTS

Intercession is a prayer of petition for the interests and needs of others. Just as the Holy Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God so we also intercede. (Romans 8:26-27) The commitment to pray for others is a sacred privilege and is an example of faith in action.

Submit Prayer Request

We pray for those on our hearts today:

  • Joan Roberts - Doing better but need continued prayers for her health and for God's peace and comfort.
  • Prayers also for Paula Southerland's daughter, Samantha, for health problems.
  • The daughter of Paula Southerland's daughter's good friend who was in a horrible car accident with a broken neck and will undergo facial surgery for broken bones.
  • Please pray for Holy Cross's financial situation and for the Holy Spirit to bring us people to hear God's Word and Good News!
  • Pastor Robert's oldest sister, Sandra Fernehmyr, who has cancer and is refusing treatment or surgery. May God grant her peace and comfort.
  • Bill Smith who is undergoing tests for low blood pressure.

REMINDER!

Please remember to let us know updates on those loved ones and friends you have submitted prayer requests for. We always need to praise God for His will, His healing hands and outcome of requests. Thank you!

Sermon Theme: "John the Baptist Prepares the Way - Part 2"

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet:

“A voice of one calling in the wilderness,

‘Prepare the way for the Lord,

    make straight paths for him.

Every valley shall be filled in,

every mountain and hill made low.

The crooked roads shall become straight,

    the rough ways smooth.

And all people will see God’s salvation.;”

The Season of Advent

Advent is the first season in “the Time of Christmas”. The calendar of the Church begins with Advent (from Latin adventus, which means “coming into”, a four week period of preparation before Christmas. The Savior’s birth is second in importance only to His resurrection on Easter Sunday. Traditionally Advent encompasses a spiritual preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus Christ at Christmas. The Western Church sets the season of Advent as beginning on the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day, or the Sunday that falls closet to November 30th, and lasting through the daytime services on December 24. Christmas begins with the evening services on December 24 and extends through the 12 days of Christmas concluding on Epiphany, January 6. “Behold, your King is coming to you!”

Tithe.ly Giving

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
