The Lord's Supper
(Served every Sunday)
|
Holy Communion is celebrated in, with and under the bread and wine Jesus gives us his body and blood for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with Him and one another.
Our Lord invites to His table those who repent of all sins, trust in Christ the Savior, believe in the real presence of His body and blood in, with and under the bread and wine, and forgives others as He loves and forgives us.
Those who do not know or accept the teachings of the Lutheran Church are invited to speak with the Pastor about joining the next adult instruction class so that they may become one with us in doctrine and receive the Sacrament for their blessing.
Pastor Leon Roberts
| Thank you for being with us in Christian fellowship! | Intercession is a prayer of petition for the interests and needs of others. Just as the Holy Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God so we also intercede. (Romans 8:26-27) The commitment to pray for others is a sacred privilege and is an example of faith in action. |
We pray for those on our hearts today:
- Joan Roberts - Continued prayers for her health and for God's peace and comfort.
- Prayers also for Paula Southerland's daughter, Samantha, for health problems.
- Please pray for Holy Cross's financial situation and for the Holy Spirit to bring us people to hear God's Word and Good News!
- Pastor Robert's oldest sister, Sandra Fernehmyr, who has cancer and is having radiation treatments at Moffett Cancer Center starting next week.
- Ron Bassham (husband of Julia Bassham) who has prostrate cancer.
- Cindy Miccolis, a friend in south Florida, who has a heart blockage. Cardiologist is deciding what next step is.
- Joan's Uncle, Steve Watts, with inoperable brain tumor given approx 3 months to live. Pray for peace and comfort for him and his family.
- Pastor Jerry Figuly, former Pastor of Holy Cross who passed away on Wednesday, 4/2.

REMINDER!
Please remember to let us know updates on those loved ones and friends you have submitted prayer requests for. We always need to praise God for His will, His healing hands and outcome of requests. Thank you!
| | Sermon Theme: "We Are Called to be Like Jesus" |
"In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!

Christ, seeing that all things were in His hands, chose to use them to serve His disciples (John 13:3). Taking the form of a servant, He took their dirty feet into His hands and washed them. Above all, He served His disciples by feeding them. He took bread and wine into His pure and
holy hands, blessed them, and then gave us so much more: His very body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins and the strengthening of faith.

The Lord’s hands, feet, and side were pierced for our transgressions. The hands that the Lord used to show compassion, lift up those who were afflicted, and bless the poor in spirit were pierced by nails driven into a cross, all for us. On the cross, our Lord’s outstretched hands show the heart
of His compassion for us. By the mere sight alone, one would have to wonder how Jesus could do anything with His hands nailed to the cross. However, these are not just any hands. They are the hands of the Son of God, who has atoned for the sins of the world.
