The Lord's Supper

(Served every Sunday)

Holy Communion is celebrated in, with and under the bread and wine Jesus gives us his body and blood for the forgiveness of sins and to strengthen our union with Him and one another.

Our Lord invites to His table those who repent of all sins, trust in Christ the Savior, believe in the real presence of His body and blood in, with and under the bread and wine, and forgives others as He loves and forgives us.

Those who do not know or accept the teachings of the Lutheran Church are invited to speak with the Pastor about joining the next adult instruction class so that they may become one with us in doctrine and receive the Sacrament for their blessing.

Pastor Leon Roberts

Thank you for being with us in Christian fellowship!

PRAYER REQUESTS

Intercession is a prayer of petition for the interests and needs of others. Just as the Holy Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God so we also intercede. (Romans 8:26-27) The commitment to pray for others is a sacred privilege and is an example of faith in action.

We pray for those on our hearts today:

  • Joan Roberts - Continued prayers for her health and for God's peace and comfort.
  • Prayers also for Paula Southerland's daughter, Samantha, for health problems.
  • Please pray for Holy Cross's financial situation and for the Holy Spirit to bring us people to hear God's Word and Good News!
  • Pastor Robert's oldest sister, Sandra Fernehmyr, who has cancer and is having radiation treatments at Moffett Cancer Center starting next week.
  • Ron Bassham (husband of Julia Bassham) who has prostrate cancer.
  • Cindy Miccolis, a friend in south Florida, who has a heart blockage. Cardiologist is deciding what next step is.
  • Bob Harvey, Sr. At Memorial Hospital with an infection. We pray for God's healing hand!
  • Matthew Westover who had knee surgery and is in rehab.
  • Monica Lehman who is having hip replacement surgery on June 5.
  • Pastor Leon's High School classmate, Nancy Imperiale, who was placed into hospice yesterday in Orlando, FL. May God's peace be with her and the family.
  • Joan Roberts' tumor is gone! Praise God!
  • Safe travels back for Pastor Leon as he returns from District Convention in Orlando. May God bless the work he continues at Holy Cross from what he's learned.

REMINDER!

Please remember to let us know updates on those loved ones and friends you have submitted prayer requests for. We always need to praise God for His will, His healing hands and outcome of requests. Thank you!

Sermon Theme: "Peter Preaches the First Gospel Sermon"

"Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning!  No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

“‘In the last days, God says,

I will pour out my Spirit on all people.

Your sons and daughters will prophesy,

your young men will see visions,

your old men will dream dreams.

Even on my servants, both men and women,

I will pour out my Spirit in those days,

    and they will prophesy.

I will show wonders in the heavens above

and signs on the earth below,

blood and fire and billows of smoke.

The sun will be turned to darkness

    and the moon to blood

before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.

And everyone who calls

on the name of the Lord will be saved.’[c]

“Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.

We Need Your Prayers!

Our world needs Jesus. For the lost, they do not know what our Lord and Savior has done for us - His death, His resurrection, His gift of eternal life. WE know that though don't we? Can you take a few minutes every day to pray for the lost and to pray that the Holy Spirit may work in them joining us in Worship? We'd love to see and meet them!

Of course, continual prayer is appreciated however, we've designated a special time each day to focus on our prayers to God. Will you join us?

Daily at 4:00 p.m.

Tithe.ly Giving

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
