ORDER OF WORSHIP
October 4, 2020 - 9 AM Worship Service
*This Sunday, the Sacrament of Communion will be offered in worship and to all in a drive-through format. During our 9AM and 10:30AM worship service, individual, prepackaged elements will be consecrated and offered to in-person worshippers. Those not able or comfortable attending in-person are asked to join us online for worship; we expect the service will be posted around 10:15 AM. Then come to St. John's between 11:30-12 noon to receive the Communion elements. You will be asked to please remain in your car. We look forward to seeing you and sharing in Christ's love together through the Sacrament of Holy Communion!

Welcome & Announcements

Hymn of Praise Crown Him With Many Crowns, verses 1,2,4 (UMH #327)
Crown him with many crowns,
 the Lamb upon his throne,
Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns
 all music but its own.
Awake, my soul, and sing of him
 who died for thee,
and hail him as thy matchless King
through all eternity.

Crown him the Lord of life,
 who triumphed o'er the grave,
and rose victorious in the strife
for those he came to save.
His glories now we sing, who died,
 and rose on high,
who died, eternal life to bring,
and lives that death may die.

Crown him the Lord of love;
 behold his hands and side,
those wounds, yet visible above,
 in beauty glorified.
All hail, Redeemer, hail! For thou
 hast died for me;
thy praise and glory shall not fail
 throughout eternity.

Prayer of Intercession

Prayer of Confession
Eternal God, Your voice speaks light into darkness and calmness into the chaos of our lives. Thank you for your voice of truth, which cannot be intimidated or overcome. Still, the struggles, trials and uncertain situations of this world tend to separate us from you. Forgive us, Lord, for the times we follow the wisdom and ways of this world over the call of your Son. Open our eyes to the authority of your kingdom as we break bread at your table. Renew and guide us, from confusion into clarity, such that the true hope of resurrection life is proclaimed to all. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

HymnOne Bread, One Body (UMH #620)
One bread, one body, one Lord of all
One cup of blessing which we bless
And we, though many, throughout the earth
We are one body in this one Lord
Gentile or Jew, servant or free,
woman or man, no more

One bread, one body, one Lord of all
One cup of blessing which we bless
And we, though many, throughout the earth
We are one body in this one Lord
Many the gifts, many the works,
one in the Lord, of all.

One bread, one body, one Lord of all
One cup of blessing which we bless
And we, though many, throughout the earth
We are one body in this one Lord
Grain for the fields, scattered and
grown gathered to one, for all.
