Sisters and Brothers,

This Sunday we are happy to welcome Fr. Lee into the pulpit at the 11:00 a.m. (English only) service. Of course we should remind everyone that we will also be offering our Spanish Mass at 1:00 p.m.

As you may know Fr. Lee and his husband Bill will be moving to Tulsa and seeks to be affiliated with our parish. He is already offering the sacrament of Confession and Reconciliation for those who might feel the need. For more information, please see the article below.

This evening we begin our Scout Pack meetings. We welcome the new kids that will be joining us and look forward to working with them. We are still looking for Den Leaders and Assistants. If you are interested in this, please contact me or Douglas May, our Cubmaster. In the meantime, we NEED volunteers to help supervise our kids until Den Leaders are in place. Please consider helping!

Este domingo nos complace dar la bienvenida al Padre. Lee en el púlpito a las 11:00 a.m. (solo en inglés). Por supuesto, debemos recordarles a todos que también ofreceremos nuestra misa en español a la 1:00 p.m.

Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers

Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers are those who are trained and licensed by our Bishop to assist in leading worship. These are the folks vested in white robes who assist by setting up the altar , reading the Prayers of the People, and ringing the Sanctus Bells. In the absence of the clergy, they are permitted to lead Morning Prayer and distribute Holy Communion from the Reserved Sacrament. If this is a ministry you might be interested in, please contact Fr. Dewayne or Br. Ray.

Ministros Eucarísticos Extraordinarios

Los ministros eucarísticos extraordinarios son aquellos que recibieron capacitación y licencia de nuestro obispo para ayudar a dirigir la adoración. Estas son las personas investidas en túnicas blancas y ayudan leyendo las Oraciones del Pueblo, preparando el altar y tocando las Campanas de Sanctus. En ausencia del clero, se les permite dirigir la Oración matutina y distribuir la Sagrada Comunión del Sacramento reservado. Si este es un ministerio que podría interesarle, contáctese con el Padre. We're growing! First, we will enroll more children this Sunday into the Catechumenate. Second, we are opening a second group of kids for Sunday School and First Communion. Group 1 will recieve First Commuion on All Saints Sunday and Group 2 will recieve First Communion on the Feast of The Baptism of Jesus, in January.

Scout Parents' Meet and Greet - NEXT Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

We've been given permission to begin our Den Meetings. So we've scheduled a Parents' Meet and Greet on Thursday, September 6th . We'll go over the Scouting program and work on forming our various Dens.

A Call for Discernment Volunteers

As many of you know, Tracy Megli has earned his Masters in Divinity and is completing the Clinical Pastoral Education program at Hillcrest Hospital. He is discerning a call to ordination with the ECC. We will be assembling a Discernment Committee for him in September and need to identify volunteers to assist with this important work. The committee will meet at least monthly for a minimum of 6 months. If you are willing to participate, please contact Fr. Dewayne.

Confession/

Reconciliation

During Lent we have traditionally invited folks to consider the Sacrament of Confession (also known as Reconciliation). This is an important Sacrament of grace that is certainly not restricted to the Lenten Season. It is important, because it allows a person to free themselves of burdens that, unattended to, may hinder spiritual growth and life. The Sacrament needs not be too heavy to bear.

In the Anglican tradition, and here at St. Jerome, we do not make Confession a requirement in order to receive Holy Communion. This does not mean we discount the Sacrament in any way. It just means that we allow folks to determine what is needed for their spiritual well-being on their own and to allow their conscience to be their guide.

Those of us who come from a Roman Catholic background, however, may be accustomed to making a Confession before receiving Holy Communion and feel it is important to continue this spiritual discipline. Therefore, because this Sacrament is important, we are pleased to announce that Fr. Lee Kaylor has agreed to offer the Confession/Reconciliation on Sundays in the Mary Chapel from 10:30 a.m. to 10:50 and then immediately following the 11:00 Mass.

Confesión / Reconciliación

Durante la Cuaresma, tradicionalmente hemos invitado a las personas a considerar el Sacramento de la Confesión (también conocido como Reconciliación). Este es un sacramento de gracia importante que ciertamente no está restringido a la temporada de Cuaresma. Es importante porque permite a una persona liberarse de las cargas, que desatendido puede obstaculizar su crecimiento espiritual y la vida. El sacramento no necesita ser demasiado pesado para soportar.

En la tradición anglicana, y aquí en San Jerónimo, no hacemos de la confesión un requisito para recibir la Sagrada Comunión. Esto no significa que descontamos el sacramento de ninguna manera.
