Thanks to All Who Participated!
50th Anniversary of PRIDE on June 30
|
Ten people from our community at Our Savior's braved traffic, crowds, heat and sore feet to march miles in the Seattle Pride Parade along with Bishop Elect Shelley Bryan Wee, Open Door Ministries. and Lutherans from 30 other churches in the NW Washington Synod. We marched to witness God's love for us all and to show our own love and welcome to our LGBTQ+ sisters and brothers.
Others from our community went to support the parade participants and watch the parade as well. Here are a few photos from the event.

Farewell and Godspeed Kimberly Wuest!
|
Kimberly has announced that she is concluding her work here on staff at the end of July. We are thankful for Kimberly's ministry here at Our Savior's. She has shared her gifts and talents with us and we are grateful.
In her letter of farewell, she wrote:
I am grateful for my time here and honored to have been part of the life of this congregation. The fall of 2015 was an exciting time to join the staff. Getting to know a congregation in the midst of a large building project is a bit tricky; a little mind-bending; and truly memorable. We were FLEXIBLE! ...

We Are Seeking A Contemporary Music Leader
|
Music is very important to us. At the 9am service, we appreciate a wide variety of contemporary styles; global, jazz, bluegrass, acapella, folk, rhythm and blues, spiritual, country and more! It is less about performance and more about engaging the hearts and voices of worshipers. The Contemporary Music leader has the primary responsibility of leading a group of talented and committed musicians. Rehearsals are generally mid-week. The Music leader works as part of a team of other part-time music staffers and with the Pastor. It is roughly a quarter-time position.
- Deep familiarity with the ELW
- History and love for the Lutheran tradition
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred
- Salary commensurate with experience
- Knack for teaching and leadership

Big Plans for Fall!

When we say Our Savior’s Lutheran Church is
A Place for EveryOne
, we mean it! Taryn, Lindsey, and the CYFM committee have been meeting with parents of young children and children’s ministry leaders over the past couple months to discern our current model and how we might be able to improve on our programs. We want to offer choices for families in order to meet them where they’re at and their individual needs, so there will be some new elements included inside worship and out.
Watch for more information. If you have any questions,
email Taryn Hauglie
, Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministries here at Our Savior's.

Did You Know?
Keeping the Playground and Outdoor Nature Park in Great Shape!
|
We are thankful to have two playgrounds for EveryOne to enjoy at Our Savior’s. Please remind your children about the safety rules in these spaces. We want to keep everyone safe and keep the playgrounds in good condition.
- Teach your children to keep the sand and sand toys in the sandbox.
- Please do not move the sitting benches. They are too heavy for the staff to keep moving back in the best 'viewing' places.
- Please teach your children to pick up their garbage and put it in the inside garbage cans or in the outside garbage can in the Nature Park.
- Groups of all ages using the Outdoor Nature Park should take their trash with them after using the Outdoor Nature Park.
- Before leaving for home, please walk out to the playground or Nature Park and make sure your child has put things away in its proper place.
- Children under the age of six years old should not be unsupervised in the playground.
- Children under ten years old should not be unsupervised in the Outdoor Nature Park.

Need Help with Wheelchair, Walkers and Scooters?
|
- Look for the designated spaces reserved for wheelchairs and scooters on the level floor along the stained-glass walls.
- We can bring Holy Communion to you if you'd rather not navigate the aisle.
- We can help fold and park walkers between the pews and keep the aisles clear.
We want to make sure EveryOne can participate, feel included, see the screen, enjoy the company of family and friends in worship. The ushers can help guide you to these areas.

What is Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services Doing to Help?
|
The images and reports coming from the detention centers on the border are horrific. Little kids are in cages comforting each other because no one is taking care of them. They're sleeping on concrete floors, and many of them are sick, scared, and alone.
The stories have shocked much of America, and people like you want to know how to help these vulnerable kids.
Fortunately, LIRS is able to support these migrant children after they have been released from detention—and we need your help now more than ever.
