Opportunity@Work is a financial wellness program NEDCO is providing at local employers. The program aims to help reduce employee financial stress by providing a set of financial literacy classes coupled with one-on-one financial coaching with one of our Asset Building Specialists. The financial literacy classes cover a wide range of material, from savings and debt to credit and retirement/investment planning. Over 81% of adults have identified money as a significant source of stress in their life and, on average, employees facing financial stress spend about 13% of their workday dealing with personal finances while working— that’s 20 hours a month!

Great ShakeOut, the world’s most popular earthquake drill. Our Disaster Management Department wants you to take advantage of this excellent opportunity to practice Drop, Cover and Hold On, the recommended personal protective action to take during an earthquake!

You are more likely to react quickly and properly when shaking begins if you practice how to protect yourself on a regular basis. We want you to stay safe. When the shaking starts, you don’t want to
think about what to do, you want to
know what to do. It could save your life.

Be sure to check out

Mark your calendars for National Teen Driver Safety Week October 16-22
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for 15- to 19- year olds in the United States. In fact, in 2014 there were 2,679 teen (15 to 19) passenger vehicle drivers involved in fatal crashes and an estimated 123,000 teens were injured. Parents need to take the time to talk with their kids about the many dangers of driving. Those dangers include alcohol, lack of seat belt use, distracted driving, speeding, and extra passengers.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is providing free driving training for local teens during National Teen Driver Safety week in October. Registration is now open for the second annual, "Drive with a Cop" scheduled for Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Grace Chapel (9600 SW Boeckman Rd.) in Wilsonville. The free driver training is open to teens with a driver license or permit. Register at www.drivewithacop.com
