TrovalTrip - Why We Invested

TrovaTrip offers a refreshing and current take on group travel. They are the first travel planning and booking platform that connects creators and communities directly with tour operators around the world. We were impressed with the team and their approach to disrupting a long held way of getting folks together. Learn more about why we invested alongside some other well established venture funds like Madrona

Avoid Risk / Get Cozy with Uncertainty

This may be one our favorite Rosenfeld Ruminations. As a long-time venture capitalist, Eric has seen many things and has been pitched many innovative ideas. But how do you determine when it's a risk you should walk away from or when the uncertainty may pay off. Check out Eric's latest perspective - complete with thought leadership, case studies and humor.

The Funded - a Signature CEO Event

Each year, except those pesky Covid years, OVF brings together our region's venture-backed CEOs (regardless if funded by OVF or other VCs). It's an opportunity for CEOs to spend a half day with their peers and focus on a strategic topic in a bucolic setting (Thanks SVB and Stoller Vineyards). This year, Google's Kelsey Hightower led the keynote on the art of storytelling and provided live examples of how to simplify complex technical topics (Thanks Kelsey!). During breakout sessions CEOs networked, shared their own stories and strategies for engaging teams, and growing their businesses.

PORTFOLIO NEWS

Eclypsium Closes $25M Series B Round Funding

Eclypsium's recent $25M series B upround was led by the most cyber of cybersecurity VCs, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Intel, Madrona, and OVF. CEO Yuriy Bulygin (pictured) and team are killin' it! Eclypsium is one of only two cyber firms endorsed by the US government for supply chain security. Did you know that 69% of exploited vulnerabilities are in firmware? That 21% of all ransomware breaches are firmware related? That 31% of adults sleep with a security blanket?

Customer.io Acquires Parcel

The acquisition of this best-in-class email code editor will enable Customer.io to offer an even-more streamlined experience for marketers, designers, and email developers worldwide. This acquisition follows Customer.io's recent purchase of Gist, an in-app messaging solution. Congrats to the team on their continued growth and success! Read more about the Parcel acquisition in a post from Customer.io CEO Colin Nederkoorn.

Rumpl Launched the Perfect Fireside Blanket

It's flame resistant! Forbes indicated that, "the Oregon label that pioneered the modern camping blanket (and ranked number one in the Forbes roundup of the best camping blankets) unveils colorful, creative and surprisingly capable outdoor equipment on their own terms." We're not surprised, just excited to have Rumpl as part of the OVF portfolio. Don't take our word for it - read the rest of the article by Forbes Magazine.

Salt & Straw in Harvard Business Review

For their success in rekindling a sense of community around their stores, Salt & Straw co-founders Kim Malek and cousin Tyler Malek are featured for their innovative model programs with community groups and neighborhood schools. They also opened their first Sacramento store and introduced their version of puppy pleasers - pup cup ice cream. Lots of tail waggin' all the way around! Their next stop is Vegas with plans to open shop in early 2023
