FUND NEWS + PERSPECTIVES

Oregon's Fairchild Moment

Before Intel Oregon, there was Fairchild Semiconductor - the company whose alumni went on to found Intel, AMD, Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia, and dozens of other firms that shaped our modern tech industry. Oregon's semiconductor story continues to feature founders who trace their roots to Intel and Oregon's deep engineering heritage. As Business Oregon's recent semiconductor strategy report shows, the state's future strength won't come from a single anchor company, but from a growing network of specialized innovators building on decades of local talent and expertise. Getting-to-market in the Age of Ai

New go-to-market strategies are yielding impressive results for startups and growth companies. We’ve summarized insights and learnings from a recent OVF workshop featuring portfolio leaders Justin Vandehey, CEO/founder of Thread, Chas Ballew, CEO/founder of Conveyor, and John Schoenstein, CRO at Customer.io, including how GTM strategies, skills, roles, tools, and pricing are rapidly evolving to benefit from AI. Read Alline [pictured] and Matt's full recap with insights here.

InventOR Surfaces Student Entrepreneurs

We heard many great stories and saw many examples of innovation and entrepreneurship at the recent InventOR finalist event. The stories reminded us that InventOR is more than a competition, it's a launchpad for innovative ideas, meaningful connections, and the next generation of entrepreneurs. OVF is proud to be a sponsor. OVF's director of investment, Melissa Freeman [pictured], attended again this year and provides a recap and her first-hand experience in her recent perspective.

PORTFOLIO NEWS

Rumpl's Best New Gear

Rumpl's $250 Wrap Sack update for 2027 was named Best New Gear by Outside at last week's Switchback outdoor gear show in New Orleans. In the largest gathering of outdoor brands from around the world, Rumpl's updated sleeping bag stood out for its design, quality, and innovation. Not surprising, Rumpl's blankets were also recently chosen as one of CNN's best travel blankets. Rumpls have travelled to the mesosphere, the Arctic and Antarctic, Shark Tank, summer camp, and so much more. Do you have one (or more) yet?

Separate but not Siloed

Many orgs treat product and engineering like two departments that need to stay in their lanes. Hydrolix CTO, Todd Persen [pictured], thinks that's how you end up shipping the wrong thing fast. In order to get the full understanding of why he believes separate but not siloed is the best method, take a listen to his recent appearance on the Software Leaders Uncensored podcast. You can find additional eye-opening insight in Hydrolix's recent Intelligence Report: Ai Bots in 2026.
