We've been busy!

Normally, during this time of the year, I'm traveling to India to meet with our farmers and suppliers, which of course hasn't been possible this year. While navigating this new normal as a small business owner has certainly had its challenges, I've been grateful to spend more time with family, as well as tackle the many pet projects I've started but not dedicated much time to before. These new circumstances have given me the opportunity to evaluate what's working and what's not, as well as focus on new product offerings, which I'm incredibly excited to share below!

Of course, none of this would be possible without our team, which has done an amazing job adjusting to Covid restrictions and remote work, has taken all the necessary precautions, and has handled many spontaneous challenges over the last year. Because our team is small, we've been able to work together cohesively and make necessary changes on the fly to get through this pandemic in one piece.

And most importantly, I wanted to thank our loyal customers for your support and patience during these times. We are so incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to continue serving you and making amazing ghee for you!

We've added several new products this winter, and we are super excited to share them with you. The one we are probably the most excited about is our Organic Kashmiri Saffron.

Saffron is the world’s most treasured spice. Its beautiful, red-gold strands are the styles and stigmas of the Saffron Crocus – the purple saffron flower.

75,000 saffron crocuses are needed to produce just a single pound of saffron threads. Because saffron is so delicate, it must be meticulously handpicked.

Of all the varieties available, Kashmiri Saffron is the rarest and most precious of all. It boasts thicker stands, robust color, deeper flavor and aroma, which set it apart from other varieties.

RECIPE SPOTLIGHT

Black Sesame Jaggery Laddoos

Take equal parts of seeds and jaggery by weight. Seeds could be a mix of white sesame, black sesame, or flax seeds. Start by dry roasting the seeds at medium heat for 5-10 minutes. Then add jaggery, keep stirring until jaggery is melted and everything is mixed well. Remove from heat, and let it cool. When it is still warm and comfortable to touch, apply some ghee to your hands, and make small balls (laddoos). Place them on a plate lined with a little ghee, so that they don't stick to the plate.

Soap Nuts make a great non-toxic bath time wash for pets!

Soap nuts are a hypoallergenic and fragrance free alternative to chemical soaps. It's great for sensitive skin and pets, and can be used for laundry, baths, shampoo/body wash, car wash, or surface cleaner - really anywhere you would use soap.

One of our employees recently used it for her pup! Soap nuts have a natural insect repellent property, so not only will your pets be naturally cleaned they’ll be less likely to attract various pests such as fleas, ticks, and lice. The natural antifungal properties of soap nuts are perfect for pets with skin irritations, rashes, and hot spots. Soap nuts liquid is also perfect for washing pet bedding.

To make soap nuts liquid concentrate, place 12 to 15 soap nuts (about 1.5 ounces) in about 6 cups of water. For best results, bring to a boil and simmer for approximately an hour or until the soap nuts turn very light tan or gray and are mushy. Allow to cool and strain. Store the soap nuts liquid concentrate in an airtight glass jar. Like all botanicals, the infused soap nut liquid is best stored in a cool place away from direct sunlight. This 100% pure soap nut liquid solution has absolutely no preservatives of any kind; hence it has a limited shelf life of a few days, unless stabilized. Refrigeration will extend its shelf life.
