ORION'S OCTOBER 2020 NEWSLETTER
Quentin, Orion job seeker.
Quentin gained the experience and skills he needed.
QUENTIN
Looking for his first job experience, Quentin was working with a counselor at the Washington State Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). In addition to lacking work experience, Quentin is deaf and has high functioning Autism. Looking for work has been challenging. His DVR counselor knew that Orion would be an accepting environment for him. Quentin came for a tour of the program and met some of the people who would be working with him.

“I liked the variation that Orion’s training program has,” Quentin recalled. “There are many different jobs and areas that you can work and learn in.

Layne Norris, Orion Mentor
MENTOR PROFILE
Orion Mentors Lead By Example
Layne Norris is a mentor in Orion's manufacturing training program. He knows that he is part of something bigger than himself. The work that Orion mentors do helps to build self-esteem in our program participants. This is an essential building block that can change the course of someone’s life. The one-on-one training provided by Layne and mentors like him makes the Orion mission possible.
I’m most proud of the all the people who come through our program. Watching them change and mature, and then ultimately seeing them go out and find a job – It’s what Orion is all about!”

CONGRESSMAN RICK LARSEN (WA-02) VISITED ORION'S MUKILTEO LOCATION
Congressman Rick Larsen (WA-02) visited Orion's Mukilteo location on Tuesday, Sept. 8th. Congressman Larsen visited employers in his district to gain knowledge of how the local economy has been impacted by COVID-19. His Orion visit also enabled him to gauge the strength of the aerospace industry in his district. In addition, while at Orion he had the opportunity to tour our operations and see how we use our business activities to support our mission by teaching people needed job skills. Thanks for the visit Congressman Larsen!

ORION'S LEARNING POD CELEBRATED AS CREATIVE SOLUTION FOR TEAM MEMBER PARENTS FACED WITH REMOTE LEARNING
Orion is moving into our second month with Orion’s Learning Pod. Orion’s staff formed a cooperative, with support of management, to provide a safe, supervised space and learning resources for children of employees. Orion's Learning Pod includes 20 kids from 13 families and 8 different school districts that we are supporting with this effort. The children are completing their online learning according to their school, grade level and class. And at our Auburn location we are on the Auburn School District Lunch Bus route, bringing breakfast and lunch for each student every day!
