High Tea with the Kitties
Wednesday, March 1 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

What’s better than a nice, hot cup of tea? That’s right – a purring cat!  The lost art of high tea is a tradition worshiped by our friends across the pond.- and since these are the folks that brought us Harry Potter, David Beckham and The Beatles, they obviously know a thing or two!  Orlando residents (and snowbirds) rejoice – as this mid-afternoon treat, featuring tiny sandwiches and scones has come to The Orlando Cat Café! So take some time to savor the sweet stuff, try out your British accent by conversing with our kitties and participate in High Tea at The Orlando Cat Café!

Choose from 2 different experiences – enjoy your tea in the Cat Play Room or choose to enjoy it in the Axum Coffee shop or even outside (weather permitting) and then visit with the kitties afterwards. Either way, this is a relaxing two hour experience and includes soft music, purring cats (if you choose to dine in the Cat Play Room) and a selection of sweet and savory items, including your choice of three flavors of scones and any of our six distinctive tea choices.

National Cat Health Month
February is known as a time to celebrate love, and one way that pet parents can show their kitty companions how much they care is by scheduling a visit to the vet to mark  National Cat Health Month.

As February is also  National Prevent a Litter Month and  National Spay/Neuter Awareness Month, one of the first veterinary appointments that all families who have welcomed a new feline into their heart and home should make is to have their cat altered. Along with helping to ‘fix’ the problem of pet overpopulation, sterilization can also help to stop spraying, curbs a cat’s urge to prowl, and can aid in the prevention of certain cancers.

The second month on the calendar is also  National Feline Dental Health Month. Statistics released by the American Veterinary Dental Society state that over 70 percent of our purring pal’s pearly whites are subject to symptoms of periodontal disease by the time they reach the age of three. A pet parent can detect a problem with their cat’s chompers by checking their pet’s breath, looking for red or swollen gums, yellow deposits or pus on their teeth, and watching to see if their cat drools or paws at their face.

If you have feline friend who has started to sport a fuller frame, National Cat Health Month is also a good time to ‘get the skinny’ on methods to help Mittens win the battle of the bulge. Check out The  Association for Pet Obesity Prevention‘s website to discover your pet’s daily caloric needs, print out a weight loss program chart and downloadable daily feeding and exercise log, and look at at list of a pet’s potential health risks.

National Cat Health Month acts as an annual reminder to take your feline friend for a yearly check up. Remember to write down any concerns about their cat’s physical and mental well-being prior to your cat’s next vet visit so the issues can be addressed during the exam.
