Message From the Director | |
Hello Osher Members - new and returning!
We’re excited for another great year of educational experiences at the Osher Institute. When renewing your membership for the coming year, you will notice that the Osher membership fee has increased to $100 for the first time in more than 12 years.
We postponed raising fees the last several years, but rising expenses have made an adjustment necessary. Our Osher institute is 100% financially self-sufficient. Your membership and course fees make up the operational budget for Osher. While we saw an increase in membership this year, we are still considerably smaller since the pandemic, and this has impacted revenue.
Currently, Osher offers more programs and events than ever before. We pursue high-quality speakers and work to maintain all learning platforms that serve our members. Our gifted staff navigates every challenge with outcomes that speak well of the hard work done by each Osher team member.
We would be remiss if we didn’t address possible barriers for any of our members. We have planned ahead to provide support to those who may be experiencing a financial hardship. This year, we have added a new $30 Partial Scholarship to offset the increase of membership for the first year. You can read more about the scholarship and apply here.
Our Osher Institute remains one of the most affordable in the country, offering a wide variety of lectures, courses, workshops, tours and events. Other Institutes look to us as a best-practice example. I’m incredibly proud of our organization and continue to be in awe of your support and dedication to the Osher Institute.
We are all looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday, August 6, between 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the annual Fall Open House and Member Packet Pickup Day. YOU are our community, and we care greatly about you.
Warmest regards,
Dana
Dana Thorp-Patterson
Director, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute
