Member Spotlight: Judy Beeson | |
Our Osher Institute thrives because of its outstanding members! This month's Member Spotlight shines on Judy Beeson.
Judy became an Osher member in 2023, when she was recruited by Osher Advisory Council member Rainey Pieters. (Fun fact: Rainey was Judy's math teacher at Boise High!) Some of her favorite Osher programs are Theodore Roosevelt: A Life of Action with Dr. Reginald Jayne; A History of Hate: The Aryan Nations and White Supremacy in Idaho with Alicia Graefe; The Fundamentals of AI with Katy Rutledge; Cryptocurrencies and the Future of Money with Dr. Jon Haveman; The History and Highlights of Young Adult Literature with Gregory Taylor; Dam Removal in the U.S. with Dr. Steve Clayton; Uses and Abuses of History, or How History is Made with Dr. Rebecca Scofield, Urban Parks in Space and Time with Quinn Anderson; and every presentation with Dr. David Adler.
There are many aspects of Osher that Judy enjoys, such as "How friendly everyone is, being together with people in classes, and the yummy treats we have...I love the whole atmosphere of being in class." She is especially grateful to the Mah Jongg SIG for teaching her how to play, and she had fun participating in the trivia game during the Holiday Open House. When she's not at Osher, Judy's other favorite activities include walking, riding her bike, dining out, traveling, spending time with friends, going to the movies and the theatre, learning about history, and playing trivia and Mah Jongg.
