Village Construction - Phase 1 Update!
The land plan for Phase I of our planned development.
Osprey Village recently took the first steps towards accessing major funding to build the first phase of our planned “neighborhood with a purpose” on the 25-acre parcel that was donated to us in the East Argent tract in Hardeeville, SC.
We submitted an application to the SC Housing Authority via their Small Rental Development Program (SRDP) to build ten duplexes with 1-bedroom apartments and an amenities center. If we are awarded capital funding through this program, we could potentially begin construction next spring to provide housing for up to 20 adults with developmental disabilities.
We will need some additional capital funding from private sources to complete the project.
The SRDP program pools funds from the SC Housing Trust Fund, National Housing Trust Fund, and HUD’s HOME rental housing programs. We received word that our application made it through the “Tier I” qualifying round, so we are busily preparing more detailed housing plans and cost estimates for our “Tier II” application. We should learn whether our final application is approved sometime in the fall.
