Ossining Food Pantry April 2020 Update
The New Normal
To: Friends of the Ossining Food Pantry

It's been approximately 6 weeks since the current medical situation caused us to temporarily close our doors at Trinity Church. It was vital that we take this action in order to protect the health and safety of our clients and volunteers. Just as imperative, however, was the need to continue to provide food support during this very difficult time. As we close out the month of April, we thought it a good time to provide an update on the steps we are taking to serve the community and to report on the strong financial support we've received from our donors. We believe you'll find the update to reflect the hardships many are experiencing as well as the generosity of the human spirit.
New Programs in Place
In lieu of distributing non-perishable food items, we believe the next best option is to provide gift cards to a local Ossining food store. We chose C-Town as it is a large store that is "walkable" for most of our clients. Clients are able to purchase what they need and what they like at a time that is convenient for them. C-Town gift cards were mailed to clients in March and April and we will continue to send throughout the summer.

Starting in May, we will add a robust amount of Farmers Market coupons to our client mailings. The addition of the Farmers Market coupons allows clients access to fresh produce. It also has the benefit of supporting local farmers.
Giving Thanks for the Help
To say the least, the new program has been a lifeline to clients and very much appreciated. Expressions of gratitude from the people we help come in daily to our office.

"Thank you very much to all the people who help those in need. God bless you always."

Doing More for the Community
The combined C-Town and Farmers Market programs cost approximately $45,000 per month. We are confident that the program is reaching and helping people who are truly in need while supporting local business and area farmers. We will continue to send gift cards and coupons as long as the need exists.

As of today, our volunteers are looking for additional ways to help people feed their families. We are coordinating efforts with Ossining Village, Ossining non-profits and with Feeding Westchester to ensure food is made available to the maximum number of residents. We promise to keep you up to date on our plans for additional support.
Thank You to Our Donors
The Ossining Food Pantry is truly blessed to have the support of the greater Ossining area. The number of people who donated to the Food Pantry is truly inspiring. Our current donors plus new donors have risen to the occasion and are providing deep financial support. During this challenging time, the extent of your generosity along with the many emails and handwritten notes of encouragement have been humbling. Saying THANK YOU just doesn't seem to be enough.

The clients we serve send their thanks and prayers to the donors and volunteers who make this program possible. We simply couldn't do it without you.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!
