IntelligentCross ATS Charity Trading Day to benefit
Tuesday’s Children
December 3, 2019

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, this time of year calls for reflection, mindfulness and generosity. Most of us will enjoy bountiful meals and joyous reunions with family, and with these experiences comes the responsibility to remember those who are less fortunate.

One way of accomplishing this is to participate in Giving Tuesday. Created in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a global movement that celebrates generosity and inspires millions around the world to contribute to worthy organizations. In just seven years, the movement has raised more than $1 billion in online donations alone for a wide variety of charities. This year’s Giving Tuesday is on Dec. 3, and firms from across our industry are ready to make an impact.

One of these firms is IntelligentCross, an STA sponsor and U.S. equities ATS powered by Imperative Execution. In honor of Giving Tuesday, all net profits from trades executed on IntelligentCross on Dec. 3 will benefit Tuesday’s Children, an organization that provides healing and resources for children and others whose lives have been impacted by terrorism or traumatic loss. Initiatives like this represent the best sides of our industry. In many ways, the stakes are higher than ever, yet the outstanding firms we work with continuously demonstrate their generosity and willingness to give back.

Tuesday’s Children is an outstanding charity, one that is quite familiar to STA. Founded in the wake of 9/11, the organization has supported more than 27,000 individuals directly impacted by the attacks, including children, spouses and first responders. It accomplishes this in a number of important ways: youth support, health and wellness counseling, career guidance and family programming, which all play key roles in their healing model.

In 2018, STA honored one of these affected individuals as its Dictum Meum Pactum award recipient: Kevin Parks , CIO at Parks Capital Management. The 9/11 attacks claimed the life of his father, Bob Parks, who worked at Cantor Fitzgerald; Kevin was 14 years old at the time. In 2010, Kevin got involved with Tuesday’s Children to support those in need from the next generation. His commitment to the cause is evident: he serves on Tuesday’s Children’s board of directors and also co-founded their junior board, which gives affected youth a voice in how the organization is run.

Individuals like Kevin, charities like Tuesday’s Children and initiatives like IntelligentCross’ remind us of what this time of year is all about. No matter who you are, we at STA encourage you to participate in Giving Tuesday, whether by participating in the IntelligentCross Charity Trading Day, donating to a favorite organization or spending some time at your local soup kitchen.
