Ottawa SkyHawks Will Not Participate in the 2014-15 Season

                Press Release                                                             July 30, 2014

(TORONTO, ON): The National Basketball League of Canada announces that the Ottawa SkyHawks will not participate in the upcoming 2014-15 season.  The remaining eight teams are on track for season #4.

The league is 100% committed to facilitate the return of professional basketball in Ottawa, as soon as next season.

The NBL Canada's Board of Governors voted 8-0 to remove Bytown Sports & Entertainment Inc., the entity that operated the SkyHawks, from the League for failure to adhere to League standards as set out in the Operating Agreement, and deadlines set forth to prepare for the season.

"Consistency across the League is our goal, and all teams are required to meet certain requirements to protect the quality of league operations going forward," said NBL Canada Commissioner Paul Riley.  "We thank the fans of the SkyHawks in Ottawa for their support last season, and we assure you we are committed to returning as soon as possible.

The League will be holding a Protected Rights List Draft of the six players on the SkyHawks next week so those player's rights will transferred to a new club in a fair manner.
