Oakie Enters Mascot Madness Final Four | |

In a stunning turn of events, Stony Brook's Wolfie has withdrawn from the Mascot Madness competition, putting Oakie into the Final Four against Ellsworth Eagle from Brockport.
New this round: An additional social media component. Polls will be posted on SUNY's Instagram and X (Twitter) accounts at noon, Thursday, March 28, to allow users to cast one vote for their favorite mascot. Polls will be open for 24 hours so be sure to share the polls with all your contacts! Each poll vote counts 2x toward the final vote tally.
Traditional voting begins at noon and runs through 3 p.m. Friday, March 29!

Noms Close Friday: Student Commencement Speaker
Students, faculty, and staff are invited to nominate a graduating senior to be the May 2024 Student Commencement Speaker.
The nominated student being must meet the following criteria:
- May 2024 graduating senior (undergraduates only)
- Enthusiastic and engaged with the graduating class (engagement can include service, leadership, and academic/research endeavors)
- Ability to communicate an inspiring message to a diverse audience of students, faculty, parents, families
- Is in good academic standing
- Serves as a positive representative of the senior class

Enter the ’24 Earth Week Hats + Stickers Design Contest | |
Help design the 2024 Earth Week hats and stickers. Those who enter receive exclusive Earth Week merch and winners walk away with a $25 Visa gift card!
Submissions must have:
- Black and white design
- "Earth Week 2024" incorporated in the front design
- Be inspired by this year's theme: "Diversity and Biodiversity: A Sustainable Future for People and Planet
People can submit multiple designs.

Share Your Thoughts on Transportation | |
Faculty, staff, and students on ESF’s Syracuse campus are invited to take a Sustainable Transportation Survey. This survey seeks to inform research for a capstone project in ESF's Sustainability Management program comparing travel perspectives and experiences of the college community to current urban plans and initiatives in Syracuse.
Submissions will be accepted until April 2, 2024. The results will not be published.

Recognize outstanding ESF students, faculty, and staff with a nomination for the Robin Hood Oak Award in recognition of outstanding service to the ESF community. Awards are presented at the Spring Banquet, Saturday, April 13.
There are four categories of Robin Hood Oak Awards: two President Awards of Student Excellence and three Outstanding Faculty and Staff Awards.

ESF Spring Cleaning | April 15
| |
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to get a jump on spring cleaning the week of April 15. You can use the labeled reuse, recycle, and trash bins that will be available across campus to eliminate clutter and keep campus looking top-notch.
Bins will be available in the following locations listed below and will be checked throughout the day.
- Bray Hall – First floor Rotunda
- Illick Hall – Third floor near passenger elevators
- Marshall Hall – Basement outside room 024
- Gateway – Second floor near elevator
- Jahn – Third floor near passenger elevator
- Baker – Third floor near CNS Help Desk
Please pay attention to the bin signage as it will help you to properly sort materials. Items accepted include, but are not limited to, paper, soft-cover books, cardboard plastic bottles/containers, glass/metal food containers, beverage bottles, office supplies, and items in good condition fit for reuse.
If you have a large volume of hardcover books or have questions, contact Environmental Health and Safety Services (EHSS) at x6952.

May Grads: Fill Out the Graduation Input Form | |
All May graduate candidates are required to complete the Graduation Input Form, which includes information including how you want your name to appear in the program and the mailing address for your diploma. To access the form, open the link in incognito mode and use your esf.edu credentials.
The deadline to complete the form is April 5.

Nominate an Honorary Degree Candidate | |
Students, faculty, and staff are invited to nominate an honorary degree candidate. The honorary doctorate is the highest form of recognition offered by the State University of New York to persons of exceptional distinction whose accomplishments serve as exemplars to students and elevate the State University as a whole.
Nominations are due April 5.

Students: Participate in Earth Science Symposium

ESF graduate and undergraduate students are invited to participate in The Central New York Earth Science Student Symposium.
Saturday, April 20 I 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. I Heroy Geology Lab, SU campus
The symposium consists of two poster sessions and talks where graduate and undergraduate students can present their research in earth science-related fields (i.e., hydrology, ecology, soil science, etc.). Dr. Patrick Fulton from Cornell University is the keynote speaker.

Public Health + Safety: Opioid and Traumatic Bleeding Response Preparedness | |

There is an opioid overdose crisis nationally and in Onondaga County. To aid in a response to an overdose, AED cabinets located throughout the ESF campus now contain NARCAN®️ Nasal Spray Opioid Overdose Rescue kits for use in the event of on-campus emergencies.
If you would like to obtain a non-emergency personal supply of NARCAN®️ Nasal Spray, please refer to the Onondaga County Department of Health website, the NYS Office of Addiction Services and Support, or attend one of the upcoming on-campus training sessions.
