Hyde Amendment Saved For Now!
Hold a Life Chain in Your Community in October!
Greetings!

Here are a few pro-life updates for your Monday!

  • Thanks to votes by our Senators Cassidy and Kennedy, the Hyde Amendment (stopping taxpayer funded abortions) was saved (for now) in the Senate by an extremely close 50-49 vote last week. The situation heads back to the House and President Biden as the Sept. 30 deadline to fund the government looms. Thanks for contacting your elected officials!

  • The lawsuit I mentioned to you in early August was DISMISSED in Baton Rouge! See below about this victory. Thanks to AG Jeff Landry for his leadership!

Have a great week, and let us know how we can help you DEFEND LIFE!
For a Pro-Life Louisiana,
Benjamin Clapper

P.S. Northwest LA: See you Aug. 31 for our Prayer Breakfast!

State Judge Dismisses Pro-Abortion Lawsuit Challenging Judicial Bypass Jurisdiction Law
Last Thursday, Judge Timothy Kelley of the 19th Judicial District Court in Baton Rouge dismissed the case Lift Louisiana vs. The State of Louisiana. Lift Louisiana, a pro-abortion advocacy group, challenged the constitutionality of Act 492, passed recently by the Louisiana Legislature. This law limits the jurisdiction to authorize a minor's abortion without parental consent to courts within the minor's parish of residence (with some exceptions). Previously, the judicial bypass could be obtained in the parish where the abortion facility operates or in the minor's parish of residence.

Louisiana Right to Life is seeking the services of a contracted graphic designer
to produce a variety of marketing materials needed to help the organization successfully accomplish its mission. This will involve an average of 20 hours per month.
Will you consider leaving a legacy of life through planned giving and help us protect life in Louisiana for generations to come?

Billboards are up near abortion facilities in New Orleans and Baton Rouge and one will be up soon near the abortion facility in Shreveport to inform women that they can reverse their abortions. These billboards, and other ads we hope to put out, will supplement the information that is required in the facilities thanks to the passage of the Abortion Pill Reversal Disclosure Act. Can you support this effort and help us get the word out?
More than 19,000 lives have been saved since 40 Days for Life began organized peaceful prayer vigils in 2007. This year's fall campaign is Sept. 22 through Oct. 31, and vigil signups are now open in Louisiana! 40 Days for Life Louisiana vigils will be held outside abortion facilities in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Shreveport. You can sign up with a church/group or by yourself and choose a day, part of a day or even an hour.
The Proudly Pro-Life Gala will return to an in-person event in 2022! The event is set for Jan. 15 at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. State Sen. Katrina Jackson will receive the 2022 Proudly Pro-Life Award during the event, chaired this year by Kurt and Susan Crosby. Will you become a patron or sponsor today? Tickets are also on sale now.
The seventh Chers Bébés: Acadiana's Soirée for Life, is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 21, at Cathedral Hall in Lafayette. Last year's event had to be cancelled due to COVID restrictions, but this year the event will be back better than ever! Will you become a patron for the event as we honor Sharon Fontenot and Dr. Kim and Bonnie Hardey?
Get your pro-life face mask now for just $5 while supplies last! As COVID-19 spikes in our state, a mask mandate is now back in effect. This is a great way to spark conversation and share your pro-life views!
