In other news, we are saddened by the loss of beloved UCSC professor Frank Andrews, who died on January 31 at age 91. As a uniquely transformative teacher of chemistry, human values, and personal empowerment for over five decades, many alumni may remember being inspired by his teaching. His support of the Norris Center has been absolutely essential. He and his wife Jean were our first major donors in 2010 and provided support at a tenuous time when significant state budget cuts may have otherwise forced the museum to close.

Frank has also been a very important teacher/mentor for several current Norris Center employees, including several of our current lecturers and its current administrative director Chris Lay. Chris has also been Frank's son-in-law for the last 25 years. You can read more here about Frank's amazing legacy at UCSC. And if you're moved to contribute in his honor, we've created The Frank Andrews Fund for Undergraduate Student Empowerment to provides opportunities to undergraduate students in the spirit of Frank’s educational philosophy.

We're looking forward to seeing many of you on the 24th!
