Fine lines begin to form when the skin's surface is no longer s
mooth. This first sign of aging can be caused from sun exposure, envir
onmental pollutants and/or the aging process - the skin's natural renewal process quite simply, slows down. Deeper
wrinkle development begi
ns when the deeper skin layer starts loosing its volume: hyaluronic acid production is sluggi
sh and collagen breaks down.
One of the ways to restore and/or maintain youthful skin is with a resurfacing technique that not only removes the rough outer skin layer, but also penetrates the epidermis to stimulate collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production.
FacesFirst uses two resurfacing techniques:
Laser resurfacing has a fixed penetration depth. Results are determined by the type of laser used and the number of passes made over the skin.
Chemical peel results are determined by the strength of the acid(s) being placed on the skin and the length of time that the peel remains on the skin before its neutralized.
Both techniques yield similar results - so how do you choose? A consultation with one of our board certified facial plastic surgeons is the first place to begin. Your skin type, skin health, lifestyle and desired goals are all considered when deciding upon a resurfacing technique.
