The Towpath Trilogy Now Offers Free CORE Nutrition Trainingcore

The Towpath Trilogy Race Series is pleased to offer CORE Nutrition Planning as a free new program for our runners in 2017.

CORE Nutrition Planning takes into account your physiology, preferences and tolerances, as well as information about your training and race to create a customized nutrition plan for your next big Towpath Trilogy event.

"Our goal is to help athletes maximize their performance by providing evidence-based nutrition plans. We are very excited to partner with Towpath Trilogy to provide runners with free, personalized, CORE nutrition plans customized for Towpath events." -Bill Braun, Co-CEO, CORE Nutrition Planning

CORE will create a nutrition plan that incorporates course aid stations and the BOOM Energy Gel, bananas, and hydration offered during Towpath Trilogy events of 10 miles and longer.

Faces of the Trilogy- Brenda Runion of NE OHIO FITNEOhioFIT

We recently spoke with longtime Towpath Trilogy volunteer Brenda Runion of Northeast Ohio FIT to talk running, volunteering and her experience with the Trilogy.

Q: So Brenda, how did you first get involved with the Towpath Trilogy?

We learned about volunteering at the Towpath races in 2010 or 2011 through our local running store, Vertical Runner. Vince Rucci, the store owner, mentioned the opportunity to participate in volunteering at the race. We showed up on beautiful June day and helped pass out water and sports drink to lots of runners along the towpath. Northeast Ohio Fit trains along the towpath in Brecksville and it seemed like a great idea to give back. We have been part of the race series ever since! We believe in giving back and supporting runners.

Q: I know that you guys volunteer at races throughout the area, getting up early on the weekend isn't for everyone, what drives your efforts?

Runners get up early on the weekends to get their long runs in, so getting up early to volunteer at a race isn't that much different. As a runner, you appreciate the cheerful, smiling people who pass out water and sports drink to you during a race, so sometimes you need to be there for other runners. In a race series like the Towpath Trilogy, it feels even better because you are helping to support a group that builds and protects the towpath. I think there are a lot of people who are not aware of what an asset the towpath is for outdoor exercise, either walking, running, or biking. Not to mention the site seeing of birds, animals and the river.

Watching other runners during a race is fun, but helping by volunteering is rewarding. Cheering people on, passing out water and sports drink make you feel like part of the running community. We have a large running community in this part of Ohio and it is something that Northeast Ohio Fit is proud to be part of as running continues to grow in popularity.

Save the Date- Towpath Trail Stage 3 Groundbreaking April 22nddate
