Sarasota, Florida Ranked 5th Best Place to Live -- and Climbing!

Hello there! I am the General Manager of Heritage Oaks Golf & Country Club located in Sarasota, and I am thrilled to announce that our city has climbed from 9th to 5th place in the US News and World's annual Report of Best Places to Live. That is such an incredible honor and a perfect combination with what Heritage Oaks has to offer!

Ours is a private, member-owned, residential community situated amidst picturesque nature preserves on Florida's Suncoast, and offers a vibrant and fulfilling lifestyle for our members. At Heritage Oaks, you can bask in the Sarasota sunshine, participate in a plethora of activities, and forge lasting friendships with your neighbors. Life here is simply more enjoyable.

Why not plan a visit to Sarasota and discover for yourself why Heritage Oaks could be the perfect place to call home? As one of our members once said, "I came for the golf and found so much more!" I invite you to read the article about our city's new ranking at the link provided and to visit our Heritage Oaks website. Before I go, I'd like to share one of my favorite Irish proverbs, "May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks. May your heart be as light as a song. May each day bring you bright, happy hours that stay with you all year long."

Sincerely,

Greg Hurst

An Amazing Run to Benefit Hungry Kids

Heritage Oaks Golf and Country Club’s General Manager, Greg Hurst, turned his May 20th "Keys100 Ultramarathon" into a fundraiser for All Faiths Food Bank’s "Campaign Against Summer Hunger." Members and staff raised $23,626 to support the run which was matched by All Faiths Food Bank. The total of $47,252 will purchase 18,900 meals and other essential resources for local children. Our Heritage Oaks community truly has heart!

Life's a Beach!

Just think, if you lived at Heritage Oaks you could join us for the annual Beach Party at *Siesta Key Beach! Voted #2 among TripAdvisor's 2023 "Top Ten Beaches in the US," Siesta Key is less than 25 minutes door-to-door from our country club community. This year over 300 members joined the fun!

The food was amazing - burgers, hot dogs (cooked right there on the beach), salads, and ice cream. Our Heritage Oaks staff was as attentive as always and took drink orders while we enjoyed the Pro Shop raffle and live music from a great band. Plus, if you didn't feel like driving to and from the beach, there was a trolley service provided by Heritage Oaks. We can't wait for next year's party!

* Known for its white quartz sand beach, Siesta Key is a must-visit island paradise. It's a family fun destination and a playground for outdoor adventures.

Heritage Oaks Backpack Kids

Summertime should be the best time of year for children. Sadly, over 40,000 local kids need help with access to food when school is not in session. But once again this year, the Heritage Oaks Backpack Kids program will help. A favorite sponsorship of our members since 2012, more than $450,000 has been contributed in the last 11 years toward alleviating childhood hunger.

Once a month a group of volunteers from our community gathers to fill backpacks with healthy and nutritious food. In addition, this year HOBK raised more than $84,000 for All Faiths Food Bank Backpack and Summer Hunger programs with three events: the “Pay it Forward Challenge;" the 2nd annual “FitWeek" event: and “Greg’s Run for Summer Hunger." Look at those happy kids! Their tummies will be full this summer, and our hearts are full knowing we've helped!

Member-Guest Tournament a Huge Success

Heritage Oaks recently hosted its largest Member-Guest tournament ever, with 108 participants. The event was all about fostering camaraderie, and friendly competition while providing an opportunity for members to introduce their fathers, sons, cousins, and friends to the club. Interestingly, many current Heritage Oaks members were introduced to the club by participating one of the Member-Guest events.

The tournament featured five 9-hole matches across three days, with breakfasts, lunches, skills contests, drinks, and grilling -- all on the driving range under "Joe's Patio" umbrellas.
