Housing Unlimited Celebrates our 90th Home!

Nearly 30 years ago, Housing Unlimited embarked on a mission to serve individuals in mental health recovery and purchased its first home serving 5 individuals. Today, we are excited to begin the work on opening our 90th home which was purchased on July 31, 2023.

With this purchase, we will be able to serve 247 individuals who pay an affordable rent while living close to public transportation, grocery stores, and support services. Thank you to the Housing Unlimited community for your continued support!

Tenants Council Members and Housing Unlimited Staff Gather for Lunch
Tenant Council members, Babbz Ricketts and Christine Golding
The Housing Unlimited Tenants Council gathered for another exciting event in August. Tenants and Housing Unlimited staff joined together for lunch at IHOP. We welcomed new tenants, honored our longest-tenured tenants, and celebrated summer birthdays!

Thanks to our Tenants Council Executive Committee leaders for leading another successful gathering!
Honoring Bianca Fryer
On August 30th, the Housing Unlimited community lost a beloved staff member, Bianca Fryer.

Bianca was a staff member at Housing Unlimited for five years. She was a consistent and steady presence in the office and is remembered by colleagues for her calm, friendly, and warm demeanor. She built strong and caring relationships with the tenant community and was respected by all.

Bianca was extraordinarily dedicated to her work at Housing Unlimited. We will miss her gentle and kind spirit and her radiant smile. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Bianca’s family.

Welcome Home Baskets Packing Party!
Tenant Teonte Adkins is all smiles after receiving his Welcome Home Basket!
Board, staff, and volunteers gathered in late August to assemble FIFTEEN Welcome Home Baskets for tenants! 🧺 Welcome Home Baskets are laundry baskets filled with new essential items like cleaning supplies, towels, first-aid kits, and “extras” donated by supporters – like picture frames, a real or a silk plant, and/or a set of sheets.

The baskets turned out beautifully, and it is our hope that one day all 247 of HUI’s tenants receive a Welcome Home Basket! 🙌

Can you volunteer and help us assemble more Welcome Home baskets? Learn more here.
