Greetings! We are so excited to announce our new partnership with the American Humanist Association on a nationwide effort to build and promote communities for the nonreligious.
This month, the HCH and the AHA agreed to co-sponsor the Humanist Community Project (HCP): a Cambridge-based initiative to support and supplement the AHA's ongoing efforts to develop successful local chapters, of which it already has more than 100 nationwide. Under the agreement, the AHA will endorse the HCP as its official community development project, providing access to staff and existing Humanist community development research (read the full announcement here).
The AHA is not providing direct funding for the HCP, so we will spend the rest of this year raising additional funds to support research and program development -- support us here.

VIA Meal Packaging (11/18) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This Sunday, we packed a record-breaking 40,000 meals for food-insecure children in Massachusetts. We warmly thank the hundreds of volunteers (including more kids than ever!) for their tireless effort, and for everyone who contributed financially -- we raised the last $5,000 of the $10,000 goal through 75 donations on Sunday alone! Stay tuned for more VIA events, and check out Sunday's photos on Facebook. |
Thanksgiving Discussion Ideas ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Last week, we gathered some of our new donors and supporters for a small pre-Thanksgiving meal to socialize, talk, and cook together. To read about how we experimented with a Humanist Thanksgiving, and for a discussion guide on Humanist topics to bring to your table (like community, giving, and food) check out the guide on our website here. |
Holiday Party and Cereal Drive (12/2) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On Sunday, December 2, we're excited to host our annual holiday party at our office at 12 Eliot Street. What are you thankful for this year? How do you want to bring in the new year? What does your community mean for you during this season of light, of music, and of giving? Join us for live jazz, free drinks, and good company. (If you'd like to volunteer at the party, email Outreach and Development Manager Sarah Chandonnet.) As we celebrate, we also remember that many of our neighbors continue to struggle to put food on the table. We'll be running a month-long Values in Action cereal drive throughout December. Please drop off boxes of dry breakfast cereal at our community center (12 Eliot. St. Cambridge, MA) any time before December 20th, including at the holiday party -- all cereal that we collect will go to our friends at Pine Street Inn.
