Perseverance Pays Off
Mariah* began working with her Catholic Charities Bloomington (CCB) therapist when she was in middle school to address the persistent anxiety that overshadowed her life. The constant anxiety made it difficult for her to function at home and school. After years of working with her therapist, something has begun to shift for Mariah. Now 20 years old, she has gotten her first part-time job that brings a sense of achievement and boosts her self-esteem. She has enrolled in Drivers’ Education to work towards getting her license, which will provide even greater freedom. Mariah’s therapist has worked beside her, nudging her along to discover on her own that she is a brave, confident young woman. Mariah now knows she can handle even the hardest of challenges, despite her anxiety. That voice inside of Mariah - the one reminding her she is capable and worthy - is growing louder by the day.

O’Connell Case Announces Retirement
Clinical Director, O’Connell Case recently announced she will be retiring effective July 15 after seven years of serving the clients that rely on CCB for hope and healing. O’Connell has served as Clinical Director since 2015 and played a critical role in helping CCB increase its presence in the community and serve more people in need of mental health care. She will remain at Catholic Charities Bloomington as a part-time consultant to help ensure a successful transition. O’Connell looks forward to time spent traveling with her husband during her retirement.

Michael Stribling, current Associate Clinical Director, will succeed O’Connell as Clinical Director upon her retirement. He has been with CCB since 2018 and has served in the role of Associate Clinical Director since January 2020.
We Continue to See a High Demand for our Services
On June 14, we began our transition from telehealth to meeting clients in person. It has been great to have people back in our office! Staff will continue meeting with clients via telehealth if it works for the client and their needs.

There is still a high demand for our services, and we continue to do our best to meet the need. In April, we provided 865 therapy sessions which is a 35% increase over the number of sessions provided in April 2020. We provided over 9,300 sessions for the fiscal year 2020-2021; an increase of 2,000 sessions in just one year.
Check Out Our New Website
We are so excited to share our new website! Our hope is that the new navigation, information, and accessibility will make it easier for you to stay up-to-date with everything happening at CCB. The demand for our services has tripled since August. As we continue to grow, we want to make sure our communications with the community do too.

A special thanks to the student volunteers in the Laurie Burns McRobbie Serve IT Clinic through the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University for their help in designing our new website.
