Announcing Our New EDUCA Podcast!
We are excited to announce DPS has made our debut in the podcast world! The EDUCA Podcast is hosted by Javier Ibarra, Senior Manager of Media and Public Relations, and Beto Gaytan, Lead Producer of Media. This podcast will explore topics related to education in the Denver community and will feature interviews with subject matter experts in their respective fields. Episodes will be available in Spanish and in English. Tune in to the podcast on Youtube each month to hear from members of Team DPS.
EDUCA Podcast Episode 1: What You Need to Know about SchoolChoice
To kick off our first episode of the EDUCA Podcast, we interviewed Claudia Tarango, an Enrollment Representative, and Mario Quezada, a Lead Enrollment Representative -- who are both with the Office of Enrollment Services. Claudia and Mario break down what you need to know about SchoolChoice for the 2023-24 school year. Watch/listen to this episode in English and Spanish.
Round 1 of SchoolChoice for the 2023-24 school year begins at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 and ends at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
ECE-3 and ECE-4 Families: Important Information about UPK Colorado and SchoolChoice Applications
Along with other Colorado school districts, DPS is working with the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) to continue expanding its Early Childhood Education program by rolling out a new enrollment process for Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado. This new program will provide additional funding opportunities for our ECE-providing schools and district partners, including charter schools and private ECE providers.

This means that the SchoolChoice process for ECE families will be much different than in previous years. ECE-3 and ECE-4 families must complete both a SchoolChoice application and a UPK Colorado application. The UPK Colorado application will open on Tuesday, Jan. 17 and close Feb. 15 -- please note that this window and application is separate from our DPS SchoolChoice window and application (Jan. 13-Feb. 14).

For more detailed information, read this letter (letters in other languages are available here). Given that this is a brand new program and system, we encourage schools and families to continue checking the UPK Colorado webpage and the DPS UPK Colorado landing page regularly for updates.
2023-24 SchoolChoice Enrollment Guides Available Online
The DPS Great Schools Enrollment Guides for the 2023-24 school year are now available online. These guides are the go-to resource for information on all DPS schools, including location, principal and contact information. The guides also feature districtwide information on how to enroll, transportation, programs and more. Browse the guides online in both English and Spanish here.

Printed versions of the guides are being delivered to schools this week and early next. Visit your nearby DPS campus or contact the Communications Office for a copy.

DPS Climate Action Plan Now Available
The Sustainability Team published DPS' first-ever Climate Action Plan as a direct result of the activism of DPS Students for Climate Action! The plan focuses on how DPS will reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, conserve our natural resources and prepare our students for a green economy -- all with a lens of environmental justice and equity.

Reaching our climate action goals will take the involvement of the entire DPS community, so we invite you to join us on this journey and encourage you to read the plan to learn how to get involved.

With this plan and the help of the DPS community, we are changing the narrative from one of climate crisis to one of bold action, innovation and accountability.
