Opens in Two Weeks!

The year is 1942 and World War II has called millions away to Europe, including the leading players of the Oberon Play House. Enter a group of passionate, albeit inexperienced, band of actresses who seize the chance to move from the sidelines to centerstage. For the first time, they will receive pay for their talents as they mount an ambitious production. Will their performance be a victory on the home front or a disaster of epic proportions? Set right here in Wappingers Falls, this charming, hilarious, and heartwarming play celebrates the power of art to rally a community and see us through the darkest of times.

Cast and crew of Into the Breeches!, volunteers of the Tunison Foundation, and Placid Lassie. January 13, 2025. Photography by Louisa Vilardi.

County Players was fortunate to be able to incorporate Placid Lassie, the C-47 aircraft currently at the Hudson Valley Regional Airport, into the production photos. There are few World War II Veterans still with us, and Placid Lassie is one of them, having flown two missions over Normandy on June 6, 1944, in support of the 101st Airborne Division’s glider landings, and later participating in Operation Market-Garden, the Bastogne re-supply missions, and Operation Varsity, the final Allied Airborne operation of the war.

Special thanks to The Tunison Foundation, Sherry Fuller, the volunteers who helped with our special photo shoot, and especially Placid Lassie. It was an honor to share space with you and we hope that our production of Into the Breeches! does honor to the sacrifices, service, and memory of those Americans who served during the war.

Directing & Acting in Readers Theatre

This full-day workshop will be led by Christine Crawfis and Steavie Hergenrader Reed

Our CP2 Readers Theatre Series brings a text to life through expressive reading, vocal inflection, facial expressions, and subtle body language, all with actors reading from the script, focusing on character interpretation and overall narrative flow, rather than full memorization or elaborate staging.

Join us to learn the techniques needed to actively perform or direct a text with emphasis on character development, active listening, and ensemble focus.
