Walk into Feeding Umpqua's Food Warehouse, and you'll see empty shelves which are normally filled with food. At a time when local rates of food insecurity are on the rise, we can ill afford to be cutting back on emergency food. You can learn more about this issue, and what you can do about it, here:

For several years, UCAN has offered several programs for parents of new babies. We will soon be offering a new program, Family Connects, which will offer free visits from a registered nurse to any Douglas County family with a new baby. Read here to learn more about this program.

Many of us think of nurses mostly working in hospitals, doctor's offices or medical clinics. But UCAN has nurses who visit with families in many places. One of our nurses, Ashley Pittam Hays, shares why this work means so much to her.

This past year, in partnership with the Community Action Partnership of Oregon (CAPO) and PDX, UCAN began a free diaper distribution program in Douglas County. Since January, UCAN has distributed more diapers in Douglas County than have been distributed in any of the other participating counties. Learn more about this great new program here.
