You're Invited! Our Family Farms Tour - SPRING EDITION
Four diverse family farms in Union County, NC will welcome you on Sunday, May 7th, 2017 and share how they provide fresh products to our community.
Date: Sunday, May 7, 2017 (rain or shine) Time: 1pm to 5pm
Admission: $20 per car includes all 4 farms
* Tickets are only available online and must be purchased in advance. * Only 100 tickets are available! * 10% of the proceeds will benefit Loaves & Fishes of Union County
NOTE: In order to accommodate all visitors (and not overwhelm our farmers!) we ask that you pick one farm as you starting point. All of the farms are within easy driving distance and you will be able to visit each one during the open hours. Please note that Dancing Bees Farm will open at 2pm; all other farms will open at 1pm.

FARM DESCRIPTION:
Our farm is located on 36 rural acres with wooded areas and open fields. We are producers of pure, raw, unpasteurized wildflower honey as well as other products of the hive. Our other products include: creamed honey of various flavors, honey wine vinegar, and beeswax products. Our beeswax products include: 100% pure beeswax candles, lotion cups and lip balm.
WHAT CAN VISITORS EXPECT FROM THEIR VISIT:
Visitors will be able to see not only some of the hives from afar, but we will have a "live bee" demonstration hive set up for an up-close and personal view! Visitors will see our "honey house" where we bottle our honey products as well as create our beeswax candles and other products of the hive. We will have informational posters about bees and their importance to our food supply. Master beekeeper Jeff Knight will be on-hand to answer any beekeeping questions and provide a presentation on honeybees! Our honey and hive products will be on-hand for purchase!

FARM DESCRIPTION:
Middle Ground Farm is located south of Monroe on 30 acres of mixed woods, pasture and a two acre pond. We take a holistic approach to livestock and currently grow beef cows, hogs, rabbits, chickens, ducks, turkeys and quail ... children have said our farm has a "Charlotte's Web" kind of feel. We supply meat, eggs and produce to local restaurants and our local patrons.
WHAT VISITORS CAN EXPECT FROM THEIR VISIT:
Visitors will have the opportunity to tour our pastures and outbuildings to see how we raise our livestock.

FARM DESCRIPTION:
Rocky River Farms is located on 28 acres outside Wesley Chapel. We provide pasture raised beef from Angus cattle we care for all of their lives. Our chickens and ducks have fresh air, sunshine and an indoor/outdoor free range environment to provide top quality eggs. We supply meat and eggs to the community through a Farm Stand open every Saturday at the farm.
WHAT VISITORS CAN EXPECT FROM THEIR VISIT:
People who visit our farm will have the opportunity to tour the farm on a hayride, meet Farmer Greg and hear about his beef cows, chickens and garden. Families will have the opportunity to play corn hole, play in the corn box, take photos with our small animals in front of the barn and shop available products.

FARM DESCRIPTION:
Windcrest Farm is a 14 acre USDA Certified Organic farm and greenhouse supplying market farmers and home gardeners with heirloom vegetable, flower, herb and fruit plants as well as growing fresh produce and cut flowers for local farmers markets and restaurants. In addition to growing specialty and hard-to-find plant varieties, Windcrest Farm conducts on-farm classes and educational tours, led by a Mary, a former educator and lifelong gardener. The farm was established in 1978 and has operated commercially since 2003.

WHAT VISITORS CAN EXPECT FROM THEIR VISIT:
Visitors have the opportunity to tour our fields, 3 high tunnels, 2 hoop houses and 2 greenhouses to see how we grow nutritionally dense vegetables through all four seasons with sustainable, small-scale methods.
