Highlights of 2025

As we close out our 50th year of service, we want to reflect on a few of this year's highlights.

AIHS Kicks Off the New Age of Aging

We celebrated our 50th Anniversary at the 50th Anniversary Stakeholder Summit & Community Conversation! Featured at the event was visionary, best-selling author and Founder & CEO of Age Wave Dr. Ken Dychtwald. Dr. Dychtwald outlined the Five Needed Course Corrections to usher in The New Age of Aging.

Elizabeth J. Evans Appointed President & CEO

Evans joined AIHS in 2013 and has worked in AIHS’s key departments and program initiatives in increasingly responsible positions. She holds a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Saint Francis and a Bachelor’s in Social Work.

“I am so looking forward to a bright future of service to older adults, individuals with disabilities and their family caregivers. AIHS has built its reputation locally and nationally as a leader committed to both excellence and innovation. I will carry that tradition forward.”

Case Management and ADRC Continue Strong

In 2013, AIHS implemented Person-Centered Care assessment models. The focus on person-centered services continues today as that is the key to successfully supporting individuals as they age in place. AIHS continues to provide Case Management services under Medicaid Waiver to clients under 60 years of age.

Veteran-Directed Care Launched

The Veteran-Directed Care Program is a VA program that empowers Veterans to direct their own long-term care services. It allows Veterans to remain in their homes and communities for as long as possible by providing them with a budget to purchase goods and services they need to support their independence. This includes the ability to hire, train and supervise their own caregivers.

Remembering Dr. Fen-Lei Chang

We join the Fort Wayne Medical Community in mourning the loss of Fen-Lei Chang, M.D. Dr. Chang was a member of the AIHS board of directors for several years contributing time, ideas and a sense of humor to every meeting his busy schedule allowed him to attend. Our condolences go out to his colleagues, friends and family.

"To recognize Dr. Chang's multi-faceted legacy, IU School of Medicine Fort Wayne is seeking to establish a professorship that would both honor his achievements and advance his vision for the future of medical education and research. For more information, contact Gina Bailey, Regional Development Officer, IU School of Medicine Fort Wayne at gibailey@iu.edu."

Continued Expansion into Integrated Care

CMS Selects AIHS to Establish GUIDE Clinics

We announced our selection by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to participate in a new Medicare alternative payment model designed to support people living with dementia and their caregivers. Under CMS’ Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Model, AIHS will be one of almost 400 participants and one of only five Area Agencies on Aging building Dementia Care Programs across the country, working to increase care coordination and improve access to services and supports, including respite care, for people living with dementia and their caregivers. Services through this program are available at no cost to eligible Medicare A & B beneficiaries.
