As we reflect on September, we are reminded that even quieter months are filled with powerful moments of impact. From youth leaders stepping up with innovative projects, to schools and libraries creating space for connection, your support continues to fuel our mission. Every action, big or small, helps build safer, stronger communities.

Chalk About Love

This September, James O’Neill High School, Pine Bush High School, and Minisink High School students participated in Chalk About Love during their lunch periods, while the Newburgh Free Library welcomed families and community members for a Saturday event.

This creative initiative invited students, families, and neighbors to share uplifting messages about respect, love, and healthy relationships through sidewalk chalk art. As a way to prepare for Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, participants came together to raise awareness about teen dating violence and promote positive, supportive connections.



Students and the community had a wonderful time and shared powerful artwork and words with their peers and our team, reminding us how meaningful youth voices are in building safe, supportive communities. We would also like to thank all of the community partners who came out to share resources.

In addition to event sponsorships, Ulster Savings Bank has stepped in year after year to adopt families through our Holiday Gift Project, bringing joy and relief to survivors during the holiday season. We are grateful for their continued partnership!

For their Girl Scouts Silver Award project, Cornwall Central High School ninth graders and members of Girl Scout Heart of the Hudson Troop 85, Emma Vazquez and Alyssa Anderson, organized a supplies drive for Fearless!, and the results were nothing short of incredible! We had to make multiple trips to bring all the items inside, as they collected over 1,000 items for transition baskets for survivors when transitioning from the shelter.  Their time, effort, and care shone through every detail of this project. 

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, our online store is stocked with powerful Fearless! merchandise, including shirts, sweatshirts, and more. This month, we're also spotlighting our Remember My Name shirt, which features a snippet from Kimberly A. Collins' poem alongside the names of those in Orange and Sullivan Counties whose lives have been lost to intimate partner violence since 2004. This meaningful design is both a tribute and a call to action. Profits directly benefit our programs and services.

We are excited to share that Kristen, our Marketing Coordinator, has been selected as a finalist in the More Than a Phone Screen Cloth Contest!

Throughout October, TCC Verizon Wireless stores and online voters will choose their favorite design. The winning artwork will receive a $5,000 grant for the program, be produced into screen-cleaning cloths sold nationwide in 2026, and help support survivors through More Than a Phone.

The winner will be announced on November 12th! Vote online and help spread the word!

The Clothesline Project

The Clothesline Project is a powerful visual display of t-shirts created by survivors of intimate partner violence, or by friends and family of victims. Each shirt tells a story, helping to break the silence and bring awareness to the impact of violence in our communities.

DVAM Workshops

Fearless! is offering free, interactive training sessions to deepen understanding of domestic violence and explore ways to respond. Open to community members, youth service providers, educators, administrators, and law enforcement.

Holiday Gift Project

Register for a family and help us spread joy by participating in our annual gift collection for families in need during the holiday season. Wishlists are set to go out around Thanksgiving. Schedule an appointment to drop off your gifts at our City of Newburgh office between December 1st and December 18th.
