February 2021
We launched our very first podcast last month! Our Colorado Spirit Program is proud to present Managing COVID Reactions. Next month will be a full year since COVID completely changed our society, bringing social isolationfearanxiety and more along with it. The way we live our lives has completely changed, so we decided to talk about it! Crisis Specialists discuss innate reactions vs responses and how we can train ourselves to manage them during these unprecedented times.
We need your votes to win $5,000! Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric kicked off their quarterly Caring Community Giveaway this week and we have been nominated as a finalist! As Colorado’s suicide rates are among the highest in the United States, Applewood employees nominated organizations who provide mental health support in the community. The winning organization will receive $5,000 and will be decided by community vote. You can vote once each day starting now through February 19th at 12pm!
February is #BlackHistoryMonth! We are committed to working towards a world that provides equal access to mental health resources and support for all communities. Research shows that the Black community experiences similar rates of mental illness as other populations, but that individuals in this community may be less likely to seek treatment. This could be for a number of reasons – the stigma surrounding mental illness, barriers such as lack of access to healthcare and more. Fortunately, more Black mental health influencers are working on breaking down barriers to treatment by spreading awareness, hope and resources.
Meet Christelle Cook! She is a therapist with the brand new Early Childhood Services program at the Broomfield Outpatient Office. Christelle has been working with children and adolescence as well as their families for about 4 years. She has lived locally most of her life and enjoys spending time with family and friends and experiencing the fun things Colorado has to offer. Christelle is excited to be working in the Broomfield office every Wednesday and to be able to help provide this resource to local families in a new area. If your child is in need of this valuable resource, give us a call!
