Our First Short Film — Mentorship: A Pathway Out of Poverty

A year after inspiration struck, Global Sojourns Giving Circle’s Mentors and model are the focus of a short but inspiring film! Skip the popcorn, but grab the tissues — for tears of joy.

We hope you enjoy watching the film, feel inspired by what you see and are moved by the deep changes you help make as a member of our community. The film shows the power of mentoring and its life-long impact — young women and men moving into adulthood and giving back to their communities. That’s our ripple effect.

Learn the film’s backstory at Mentoring. And once you watch, listen and read, we’d appreciate your comments on the film. Feel free to share the link with others.

If the film inspires you to support Global Sojourns Giving Circle for the first time, boost the frequency of your support or become a monthly donor, please Support Our Mentors. It’s easy. And thank you!

A Screening in Vancouver,Washington

GSGC board member Heidi Johnson Bixby opened a sunny room in her office building April 10 to host the first screening of Mentorship: A Pathway Out of Poverty. About 50 supporters who hadn’t gathered since the pandemic hit came to see it!

Speakers included not only Heidi and GSGC founder Priscilla Plummer, who traveled from Cape Town, South Africa, to celebrate the screening, but Vancouver artist Russell Ford and his wife, Barbara Ford. Both ardent supporters, they are organizing a money-raising art auction in the same space on Sept. 10! Mark your calendar, please. Proceeds will support the nearly 60 clubs we sponsor in Zambia, Madagascar and Zimbabwe.

If you want to see Priscilla’s April 10 presentation, check out Gratitude and Inspiration. And hear Mentor Mercy Sibanda's sweet rendition of what GSGC means to her.
