When you support Our Friends Place (OFP) this summer you give young women a place to thrive, not just survive. Youth homelessness is often invisible - you seldom see a young lady panhandling during the day. They live in cars, sleep on friends' couches or hide in abandoned buildings. Their lives are about surviving.
Your summer gift to Our Friends Place supports stable apartment-style living for young women and a much-needed homeless prevention program where they can grow their life skills to build a better future. Learn more about Brandy and Kira, who both found OFP this summer, and how your help can make a difference.
At the end of May, volunteers gathered to help collate Our Friends Place summer donation appeal. The demand for youth homeless services heightens in the summer when school is out and we were grateful to have the help from The Senior Source RSVP Program and Lakewood Service League. A dozen volunteers working together assembled the mailing in four hours!
We encourage volunteers to visit the online volunteer portal to fill out a profile, view volunteer events and sign up to volunteer. Check back often for upcoming opportunities in August, September, October, and November. Thank you for sharing your time and talents with OFP as we work together making a difference empowering the lives of our young women!
