By supporting our Annual Garden Gala, you change lives for young Angelenos like these...
As the coming school year swiftly approaches, we are proud to acknowledge 34 young El Nido clients from Compton, Pacoima and South LA who were provided with college scholarships from generous El Nido donors, including:

  • Shirley de Miranda Memorial Scholarship Fund
  • Payson Wolff Memorial Scholarship Fund
  • The Ella Fitzgerald Memorial Scholarship
  • The Friends of Robert W. Scrivner
  • Scott Matula-Beltch and Friends
  • The Family of Margie Guzman
  • The Payson Wolff Family

Many of these youth grew up in environments with few academic role models and a litany of challenges, yet despite these circumstances, and with support of El Nido services and programs, they have excelled academically and set a goal to graduate college.

Since 1992, El Nido has awarded 491 scholarships.
Steven was nearly consumed by gang life...but thanks to El Nido supporters like you, he is on a path to success...

Steven is a second year scholarship recipient attending West LA College. Born with a speech impediment, a history of gang involvement, and a recent diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis, he has overcome daunting challenges with the help of El Nido.

“I want to use my knowledge and continue working in the public sector to make a difference in my community. This is important because great programs like El Nido help pave the way for the young aspiring people who genuinely want to succeed and change the lives of youth that face similar circumstances like mine.”

With the support and guidance from El Nido counselors and support staff, Steven turned his life around, unlocked his motivation to model perseverance and commitment to inspire other disadvantaged youth.
