How can the design of our hospital demonstrate quality experience?

On June 7, a team from Hamilton Health Sciences shared HHS' vision for the future of care at City Housing's Leadership Summit for tenants. Attendees were asked to share their thoughts on how the design of HHS' hospital space could demonstrate:

  1. Quality experience
  2. The inclusion of family & caregivers
  3. Patient advocacy
  4. Health system navigation
  5. Respect

These are the themes that came out of community engagement conducted in 2015 and reflect what people told us matters most in their health care experience.

We invite you to tell us how our space could demonstrate these themes by visiting the Our Healthy Future website. Beginning with quality experience, the themes will be updated every other week to rotate through each of the five themes listed above.

BLOG: Rethinking ambulatory services

Briefing note: Ambulatory services review

Together with our partners, we are doing a comprehensive review of outpatient services at HHS and in the regions we serve.

Partners in care

Learn how Dr. Atul Sunny Luthra’s geriatric outreach team is keeping people out of the hospital through a patient-centred partnership based on an old-school approach: house calls.
Growing and changing to provide the care our community needs
The Our Healthy Future (OHF) initiative is a redevelopment planning process  that began in
spring 2015. As of June 2016 we developed a vision for our
future model of care and the facilities we’ll need to deliver that care. The vision was approved by the HHS Board of Directors and was then submitted to the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Local Health Integration Network and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care for review. We are working throughout 2017 to complete and receive approval from the LHIN and Ministry of Health for each part of our Stage 1 submission.
