Diane Wood - Watercolor - 2023
In case you missed something, we got flooded in July. Worse yet, GMHA got flooded and had to cancel or modify the rest of July and August! Which messed everyone up to a faretheewell, Them and us! It was pretty awful but everyone turned to and helped and everyone survived. I can't say that it's been easy or even that it is over, but we are all looking forward to a great 2024 season... God willin' and the creek don't rise! Literally!

It got pretty quiet around here for a while so we decided we needed to take advantage of that fact and make a few changes we had been putting off because... well... it had been crazy busy right up to the day it started raining. The result of this is our brand, spanking, new Web Store! Something we have been planning for a long time but just never seemed to get around to!

What's great about it? To begin with, it actually speaks to our inventory which means if it lets you order something you will likely actually get it because it is pretty sure we either have it or can get it! Huge improvement. And then there are the large number of decent photos that let you see the products. And the ever increasing variety of products that we can add to the web store because... IT SPEAKS TO THE INVENTORY! In other words, this was not just a revamp, this was a from the ground up rebuild. It's not done yet but you can follow any of the links here and take a look... maybe even buy something! There are still some areas that have little or nothing in them but there will be lots more soon. We are adding stuff every day.

Some areas of interest during the Holiday Season... Check out Holiday Picks or Christmas Goodies on the opening screen as well as Winter Wear, Breyers, Purses and the return of Beth's Bookshelf, Beth Dawley's collection of rare and vintage books and ephemera. You'll find that up on the navigation bar right underneath the logo at the top. See??? I almost sound like I know what that is;-)! Anyway, if you tootle around on there you'll find some cool stuff. And if you don't find what you need... just call us! We are still going to be here answering the phone and the doorbell to the very best of our ability. We are looking at this web store as a better way to take care of our customers personally no matter where they are so feel free to call/text us anytime at 8023566748 and if we dont answer just leave a message and we'll get back to you as soon as we get it. Same store, same people, same idea. Just a little more convenient for everyone.

Seriously... we have been a semi seasonal business for a long time but we really need your support off season to ensure that we can be here in season. It is our hope that our customers will take advantage of the new technology to continue to support us from wherever they are. And, for our part, we want to know what we can do for you to help make that happen. You can call/text anytime to 8023566748 or reply to any email. I will personally do whatever is within my power to help.

We love being here for all the wonderful folks who walk through our doors all summer long. Being here to help you in person is our joy. But, with the popularity of online shopping, the increasing number of folks who head south for the winter months, and the flooding issues that almost put us out of business this past summer, we had to admit we needed to make some serious changes. We want to be here for you next summer just as we have been for the last 38 or so summers. For that to happen we are going to need your help.

Check out the web store, let us know what you want to see on there and we'll do the best we can, And if we can't do it, we'll try to send you to someone who can... just as we always have.

And By The Way... If you have been a fan of "Laura's Life" in these newsletters, it will be back with a new story in the next edition. Meanwhile, you will find a reprint of The Story of Our Budweiser Bells on the front page of the web store to wish you a very Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays. We look forward to seeing you at the party on Thursday, or any day, during the Holiday Season!

Happy Trails to You!

High Brook Farm
Two miles south of GMHA, our High Brook Farm is a traditional cape style farmhouse built in 1841 and never out of our family. It sleeps six to eight in four bedrooms and more if needed. It has living and dining rooms and a function room for get togethers. It is available by the week only for a limited number of weeks each year but, rest assured, they are the weeks you will want. This is the real deal. A traditional Vermont farm with horses in the pastures and lilacs in the yard. Antique and quirky by design, you can go hiking through the woods, fishing in the pond or just sit by the firepit and toast marshmallows! Rates vary according to date. CLICK HERE to eMail us for photos and more information or call us at 802/356-6748.
The Garden Apartment
At the top of Reading Hill over our garage, a studio apartment with a semi-private sleeping alcove. It has a queen bed and two sleep sofas, a king and a queen. There is a big multipurpose room with a small kitchen, dining area and seating as well as a 3/4 bath. It will sleep up to six VERY good friends but was really designed for a couple. It is currently closed for some renovation work but will be available again in June 2024... after we get the new roof on:-). Check with us for future dates.
This is a place to sleep and eat and visit with friends. There is a balcony and a deck with a grill so summer outside is comfortable and relaxed. Rates vary by date and start at $125/night for two people. CLICK HERE to eMail us for photos and more information or call us at 802/356-6748
The Horsemen's House is another 1840's cape located just north of our store on Route 106, walking distance to GMHA. In a former life it was a dormitory so it is mostly bedrooms and has been a guesthouse for as long as we have owned it, most of 39 years.

It is designed to be a step or so above camping, sort of a hostel for horse folk, with a small, shared kitchen, indoor plumbing, laundry and free wifi at reasonable rates. It sleeps up to 12 easily and the whole house can be rented by the week when available. Call us to book early if you have a group that would like the whole house so we can block out the time. It's fun and funky, not fancy, but very convenient. We have been doing some work on this house and plan to open it again in June 2024. Rates vary by date. Most weeks rooms are available individually and vary according to number of beds and occupants. CLICK HERE to eMail us for photos and more information or call us at 802/356-6748
