Dear Supporters,

Once again we’ve reached that special time of year when temperatures drop and spirits rise. The holidays are a time for bringing people together, when we are all reminded that a little kindness goes a long way and that nothing is better than the joy that comes from giving.
Here at The Women’s Safe House we have seen the highs and lows of the season. The generosity with which people have given gifts, time, and support has been inspiring. But of course, the holidays are also a time of added stress. While the month of December does not typically bring increased rates of reported domestic abuse, studies have shown that the intensity of violence at home may worsen due to financial strain, family stress, and other holiday-related factors. We know that our crisis hotline will light up with activity once January arrives, and with it the resolve to enter a new year free from violence. Here at The Women’s Safe House, we know that abuse does not take a vacation, but neither do our advocates and supporters.
In the face of the dark shadow of the holiday season, our shelter strives to offer as much cheer as possible. Over the past two months The Women’s Safe House has played host to kids’ holiday craft workshops, Christmas parties, and no less than three Thanksgiving dinners. Santa came to visit, and our holiday “store” was bursting with toys for the children in our shelter. None of this would be possible without you, our amazing community of advocates and supporters.
As we round the corner on yet another year, our resolution here at TWSH is to enter our 41 st year of service with optimism, hope, and empowerment. Thank you for your continued support of our mission and those we serve.
Here’s to a new year, a new start, and a brighter future.
The Holiday Store opened December 19th!
Thank you to everyone that donated toys for the holidays. We were overwhelmed with support!
Women were able to pick out items for their children to open on Christmas. We were also able to host a pizza and pajamas gift-wrapping party with the help of our wonderful volunteers.

We are thankful for the generous men of Omega Psi Phi. They selflessly volunteered their time on Thanksgiving to provide a delicious meal for the women and children in shelter.
On December 10th the wonderful women of the Archway Chapter of The Links threw a holiday party for the women and children in shelter. It was a joyous day of holiday crafts, home-cooked food, and thoughtful presents. And we even had a special visit from Santa! The Links graciously donated everything needed to make the day extra special.

Thanks to our incredibly supportive community all 22 of the families in our Adopt-a-Family program were quickly adopted. This picture is barely a fraction of the gifts donated. Once again we were overwhelmed by generosity and support. Thank you to all the individuals and organizations that adopted families, and a special thanks to the volunteers who helped wrap the gifts.
