The Goldie Initiative Hosts Annual Scholar Retreat
Beginning with a "Meet the Goldie Scholars" event at Harrison Street's corporate offices in downtown Chicago, The Goldie Initiative hosted two days of networking, leadership development, and cohort bonding for Goldie Scholars in February. In addition to programming for Goldie Scholars designed to supplement the graduate school experience, Goldie Mentors were invited to events and participated in a training session with a renowned expert in the field, Lisa Z. Fain of the Center for Mentoring Excellence. The Goldie Initiative is grateful to event host Zeller, and to all of the participants and contributors. Kicks off Term as 2024 Goldie Gala Shero
Goldie Gala 2024 Shero Award Honoree Molly McShane, CEO of The McShane Companies, provided inspirational pearls of wisdom and candid advice to Goldie Scholars, Mentors, Board Members and other volunteers attending the 2024 Goldie Scholar Retreat. The Goldie Initiative Expands to Northeast
In February 2024, CEO Megan Abraham, visited Philadelphia and New York to conduct Goldie Scholar recruitment events with graduate students and other supporters in the Northeast region. The visits reached students, faculty, and staff at University of Pennsylvania, Temple University and Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and Columbia University and New York University in New York.
In addition to recruiting Goldie Scholar applicants from schools in the region, Megan connected with Alumnae, Mentors, and other supporters of The Goldie Initiative. Additional recruitment events in Boston are scheduled for April. The Goldie Initiative scholarship application will open for the 2024-25 school year in April.

Please mark your calendar for The Goldie Initiative Impact Summit on Thursday, May 16, 2024.
The goal of the Impact Summit is to celebrate the achievements by The Goldie Initiative stakeholders over the past school year, not only including the celebration of our class of 2024, but also recognizing promotions, job placements, and other success stories that exemplify our organization's impact.
This new event will be conducted in a hybrid format over the lunch hour. Select stakeholders, including our Chicago-based Goldie Scholars, Goldie Alumnae, mentors, board and committee members, and supporters will be invited to attend in person. All will be invited to join us virtually. Please be on the look out for additional information!

Katie Kazas was installed as Board President of The Goldie Initiative, effective January 1, 2024. She brings a wealth of industry experience and has served as a Mentor and Gala Co-Chair at The Goldie Initiative.
Regarding her installation as President, Katie indicated: “I’m honored to work with this incredible organization and excited about expanding our presence in the northeast and beyond." Congratulations!

Beyond Middle Management
In a recent article in Fast Company, the historical issues of recruiting, retaining, and including women in company leadership are addressed and suggestions for how to improve are offered: "Great gender equity includes equitable opportunities to advance careers, equitable access to resources and training, unbiased appraisals of performance, equitable pay, and transparent promotion criteria and processes...gender diversity in senior leadership can improve the recruitment of women."
